Are you a city slicker, wondering how people can survive without a grocery store or Starbucks just down the street? Or are you a country kid at heart, who maybe got stuck in the concrete jungle? Whether you know more about rush hours or cattle drives, you can play country kid for a day as you watch western Canada’s rural history come to life before your eyes. Don’t miss Heritage Park’s Country Kickback on August 26th and 27th!
This hands-on event offers a multitude of country-living activities and demonstrations from threshing and baling with steam-powered machinery to making intricate lace and rugs by hand.
Kids (and parents!) will be happy to go a little bit country, as you get to make and sample homemade ice cream and fresh butter. Try your hand at rope making, branding a barn board, or learning a new dance at the good old-fashioned barn dance. Don’t forget to visit the petting zoo!
If anyone in your family is a little (or a lot) competitive, join in the Country Kickback Challenge. Collect a stamp for completing each of the 4 farm themed activities: lassoing, gymkhana, egg find, and bucket brigade to be entered to win a family prize pack!
While you’re at the Park, don’t forget to take a spin on the ferris wheel, or stop by the bakery and candy store. Rest your feet on the steam train or the paddleboat. Before you go, make sure you take a break to listen to the Prairie Mountain Fiddlers and watch the Chinook Country Line Dancers. There will be something that every member of your family will love at the Heritage Park Country Kickback! All these activities are included with your daily admission, or get an annual pass, for even more value.
