If your family is looking for a music festival that you can all enjoy together, The No Greater Love Festival is worth checking out this summer. It is the largest faith-based music festival in Canada and a recent arrival on the Canadian festival scene that is quickly becoming a must-attend event for artists and attendees alike. What makes this festival different, however, is that it is non-denominational – meaning that it is open to anyone – and is a place where all ages are welcomed, from babies to teens to older adults.
The festival takes place August 12th – 13th, 2017 on the Chief Goodstoney Rodeo Lands which is located on the Stoney Nakoda Nation at Morley, Alberta, 40 minutes west of Calgary. In a unique relationship with the Stoney Nakoda community, the festival takes place on their land in a spectacular jaw-dropping mountain meadow bordered by the Bow River. This location has been featured in famous films such as The Revenant and Legends of the Fall, making it unlike any other festival in the world! But despite the pristine, natural location, it is conveniently located just a short drive from Calgary and is also easily accessible from Banff, Canmore, and Cochrane.
The festival promises two jam-packed days of uplifting and inspiring music, featuring international and Canadian artists. Besides the music, however, there are lots of other fun stuff to do: food trucks, a vendor alley, a First Nations Village, a skateboard park, and a kids zone. There will be water stations and banking machines onsite. Parents won’t need worry about their children or teens on the festival grounds because everything is geared to being safe and family-friendly.
There is on-site parking for festival-goers who wish to travel back and forth between their home and the festival each day. But you will want to consider camping out onn-site all weekend to take advantage of everything this unique event has to offer. Those who camp will meet and get to know lots of different people through activities such as nature walks, group campfires and even a Friday night Movie in the Park! And you may even get to sleep in an authentic First Nations tipi under clear starry skies!
Calgary families will not want to miss this authentic festival experience right in their own backyard. More Canadians are staying in Canada to vacation this year to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday. The No Greater Love music festival, which is focused around a sense of community and friendship, is the perfect event for the whole family to enjoy some of Canada’s most pristine scenery. So come on your own, or with your family or faith group. Over 10, 000 people are expected to attend the No Greater Love Festival so make this part of your plans. It will be one of best experiences of your summer!
Tickets for the event are on sale now on the website. Ticket prices are $135 for weekend passes, and $80 for single day passes. Kids under 12 are free.
