This post made me laugh.
On the flip side, I got 2 children who both had a hard time pooping - we were lucky to get one a day - but those poops were cheered on and celebrated when they finally made their way out.

Will definitely be using the "writing lines" approach. I remember doing them in elementary school on the blackboard.

You should hear the sound my husband made when he had to change poopy diapers. This visceral, dark, angry, hissing growl that vibrated through him into the floor and up into everyone else within a 3 mile radius.

And the cherry on top? If he happened to get some poop on his skin.

Stand back.

I hear you! In the fall of 2005 I started a part-time nanny job for two girls under the age of 4, one in diapers and one needed help wiping. A baby sister was born in Dec of that year and more crap duties were added. In January of 2006 I took on another part-time nanny position of a 2 year old gal in diapers and her baby brother was born a few months later. So now I had 5 different little crappers. One more baby was born 2 years later but by that time the three oldest kids were pretty good in the bathroom on their own leaving 3 crappers that needed assistance. Oh yeah and diaper time for the boys was crazy acrobatics just like you described.

I quit working and 4 days later my own little crapper was born! And his diaper times are a nightmare right now. Sometimes I just take the easy way out and stick him in the shower rather than risk poop getting everywhere.

Now when my husband talks about getting a dog, my first thought is, "What? Like I want to pick up more crap?"

As of this fall I will have been wiping butts pretty much every day for 7 years and if I have more kids it will probably go on for at least another 4 at the minimum.

Gross!

You make a very good point Lori and I would like to add : Physical "discipline" within the family unit towards anyone outside of the 2-12 year old range is also considered assault so what makes it ok to hit a 2yr old but not a 20 month old or an 11 year old but not a 12.5 year old?

I entirely agree. Well said.

(Thanks for the idea of writing lines. My girl is getting too old for the whole timeout thing.)
