We don’t want to just raise good kids, we want to raise successful adults, too! One of the greatest skills anyone can learn is to communicate effectively. This can improve the dynamic of your family life and prepare your kids to be terrific adults. Debate Camp Halifax offers welcoming, fun, and intellectually engaging summer day camps for kids to grow their debate skills.

Debate Camp is not just for the experienced debater but for kids of all abilities and comfort levels. During the week, campers will grow lifelong skills such as information research, organizing ideas, communicating articulately, and working cooperatively on a team. Through daily debating, public speaking, and Model UN activities, you’ll notice your kids gain the confidence to propel them into a new school year and beyond. This year, Debate Camp Halifax will host on-campus learning at Armbrae Academy and King’s Edgehill, and there will also be opportunities for overnight stays.

With a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:8, kids are divided into small groups by age and experience. Debates happen in partnerships with a focus on teamwork. Teams will prepare and engage in a parliamentary-style debate, with age-appropriate topics. For example, students from grades 5 -6 might debate ‘school should only be 4 days a week’, while advanced debaters might argue for (or against) ‘the production of biofuels causes food insecurity’.

Listen to what a parent has to say about Debate Camp.

“We don’t know how you made debate camp such an enriching program for children but you have the formula down pat. Our daughter came home every day with her wheels fully pumped, her bucket filled to the brim. She regularly told us all about her day – and that doesn’t always happen after camp or school. She was just so excited and needed to bring her family into the fold. She has now taught us how to debate and gave her sister the bracelet she made for her. From my heart: thank you!”

Space is limited, so act quickly and watch your kids learn how to state their point of view respectfully! Sibling discounts will help to reduce costs for families. Register online today!
