Saskatoon’s hottest summer theatre festival is fast approaching, but if you’ve ever been to the Saskatoon Fringe Festival, you’ll know it’s about SO much more than theatre! Whether you’re sampling a delicious new flavour from an on-site food truck, watching a street performer, or perusing the wares of a trendy vendor, the Saskatoon Fringe Festival has something for everyone in the family! Kids Fringe

Whether you’re a group making the most of the KidsConnect program or a parent looking for the perfect show to watch with your kids this summer, Kids Fringe has a whole host of opportunities for you! This year the Saskatoon Fringe Festival wants to foster a love of theatre in your family with the following spectacular shows (click above Kids Fringe link for more details):

See a Show on the Cheap with a Family Frequent Fringe Package

Purchase a package of 4 vouchers for $40 to enjoy the Family Frequent Fringe deal! These can be purchased from the Fringe Central Office, on-line, or at Grace-Westminster Church an hour before a children’s show. The Family Frequent Fringe Package aims to help parents foster a love of theatre while enjoying a cost reduction!

Saskatoon Fringe FestivalFREE performance of The Dream Catchers

On August 3rd at 8:00pm, watch the Dream Catchers for FREE. This musical blends hip hop, spoken word, and Indigenous dance to take theatre-goers on a journey to find hope for the future through the creative exploration of the dreams of young Canadians. This event will take place outdoors on the PotashCorp Fringe Festival Site (by 11th Street and Dufferin).

Professional Circle Buskers

Broadway between 8th St. and 12th St. will be closed to traffic from 6 pm – 10:30 pm on weekdays, and noon – 10:30 pm on weekends, including holiday Monday. This year circle buskers will alternate between Broadway & 11th and Broadway & 10th. See www.25thstreettheatre.org/outdoor-busking/ for schedule and details.

Street Food

Feast on tasty street food delights from trucks and other vendors. These will primarily be located on 11th St. during street closure times.

Street Vendors

From crafted goods to clothing to jewelry, it’s always fun the peruse the street vendors at the fringe!

Buskers

Dance, musicians, mimes, comedians, and artists are a-plenty every year at the Saskatoon Fringe Festival. The sights and sounds are sure to delight and inspire fringe-goers in 2017! Don’t forget your change! Support for buskers is vital to their craft!
