The We Day initiative is sweeping the nation and Telus has jumped on board as a major sponsor to keep the momentum going. For those not in the know, We Day is an inspiring series of events held across Canada where various world-renowned speakers gather to celebrate and empower young people who make a difference in communities around the world. This year seven cities in Canada are hosting We Day events and over 90,000 youth are expected to participate and join the movement.
Telus and Free the Children have just announced a five-year partnership as National Co-Title sponsor of We Day in order to help support youth empowerment. Telus has also launched a campaign called Phones for Good, in which they’ll donate $25 from the sale of every Samsung Galaxy SIII or Samsung Ace Q to Free the Children.
We Day festivities have already taken place this fall in Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary, but there’s still much more to come! Take in regional We Day events in Winnipeg on October 30, Kitchener/Waterloo on November 14, and Montreal on November 20, 2012. A National We Day Celebration will take place on April 29, 2013 in Ottawa at the Robert Guertin Arena.
Family Fun Canada is in on the We Day action too. Check out photos and our video from our experience at the We Day event in Calgary.

My incredible mother is a social worker who helps women and children who are victims of domestic violence get the security, support, and safety they and their children need for a healthy and happy life! A 12 year old is trying to make people more aware of charities benefiting children. Her website, kidshelpingkidsCalgary.wordpress.com has raised almost $5000 in 8 weeks for a charity that provides lunch to 3000 Calgary school kids and street kids a day, that otherwise would not get lunch. Her next project will be with Inn from the Cold which is seeing high numbers of children right now.
We have an organization in our community to pair donations with poor families to provide Christmas presents to kids who might not otherwise have gifts.
This is a very cool contest. So glad that Family Fun is making its way up in the world!!
I have a friend who raises awareness about human trafficking.
There are SO many. The owners of Absolute Dance studio are one example. All the proceeds of their holiday production go to Children’s Hospital, and they have just launched a new dance program for children with different abilities. They are some of the most kind, generous and caring people you could meet.

Awesome idea Telus. My boys are making a difference in the world by crusading for everyone to take care of the earth we share by reducing, reusing, and recycling. I am so proud of them!
