The sun has been generous and that means the strawberries are plentiful.  While today was a drizzly-Vancouver-special we bundled up and headed to the strawberry fields.  The plants are LOADED with perfectly ripe berries.  Very few were over ripe, the majority were perfectly ripe juicy red berries.

Krause Berry Farms, out in Langley, is incredibly kid friendly.  There are wagons to use (a $1 deposit is required per wagon).  While the wagons aren’t for kids, the kids sure have fun pulling them through the fields.  Krause Berry has tractor train rides, a large playground and fantastic treats.

After we picked our fill of berries, we headed to On The Porch for a snack.  The french fries were yummy, the moo melt (aka grilled cheese) was delicious, and the ice cream sundae in a waffle-cone bowl was drool-worthy. After our bellies were full we wandered into the store and purchased 4 fruit pies: cherry, blueberry, apple and strawberry/rhubarb.  Yum!

New this year is the Krause Berry winery.  Their wines are all made of fruit.  We sampled some last year and can’t wait to return for a summer afternoon sipping that delicious nectar.

The majority of the berry fields are now open.  Strawberries run through June and a bit of July, they return in August & September.  Blueberries are July and August; blackberries are ripe in August.  Enjoy picking berries with your kids!
