Well hello June! It’s the month of warmer days, longer evenings spent outdoors, and a never-ending list of school events as kids wrap up their year. This is also the time that family-fun activities ramp up around Metro Vancouver! We’ve picked a few of our must-see events and activities for this month, but it is only a mere sampling of what is happening.  If you need more ideas, head on over to the Family Fun Vancouver calendar!

FREE Swimming in Surrey (ongoing until the end of the summer) – the City of Surrey has 8 outdoor pools and they offer FREE swimming all summer long. A few of the pools opened in mid-May, and the rest of them open throughout the month of June.

Vancouver Children’s Festival (May 30-June 4) – the fun may have started in May but we couldn’t leave this Vancouver staple off our June events list. The festival is jam-packed with exciting performances and events for kids of all ages.

Pitt Meadows Day (June 3) – This free family event is a community tradition and includes a pancake breakfast, a parade, an artisan market, entertainment, food trucks, a family-friendly beverage garden, children & youth activities and much more!

Doors Open Richmond (June 3 & 4) – The annual Doors Open Richmond returns this spring as a free, in-person and online event from June 3-4, 2023.  Doors Open celebrates cultural diversity and raises civic awareness by offering a look inside places of worship, cultural and civic centres, local businesses, museums and heritage sites.

Hats Off Day (June 3) – the merchants in Burnaby Heights are taking their Hats Off for their community & customers. The day is packed full of family-friendly activities.

Playland (opens June 3) – With over 30 rides and attractions, Playland has something to offer guests of all ages. Thrill-seekers will love the hair-raising rides including The Beast, Atmosphere, Hellevator and the iconic 1958 Wooden Roller Coaster. More fun can be had at the Midway, the Climbing Wall, Pacific Adventure Gold, The Glass House and the Haunted Mansion.

BC Family Fishing Weekend (June 16-18) – The BC Family Fishing Weekend is back! During the Annual BC’s Family Fishing Weekend, June 16-18, 2023 (which is also Father’s Day weekend) Canadians can fish LICENCE FREE on both salt and fresh water (certain rules and regulations do apply).

Father’s Day (June 18th) – Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads, step-dads, grand-dads, dads-in-training, dads-flying-by-the-seat-of-their-pants, and everyone else who is helping nurture the next generation. Are you in need of a Father’s Day activity? Check out our list here.

Greek Day (June 25) – Greek Day on Broadway is back. A five-block stretch on West Broadway is closed off to traffic for a world of delicious Greek food and drink, market vendors, entertainment and live music offering a laid-back, yet lively Greek atmosphere. Come hungry as the food is out of this world!
