This summer, it’s time to encourage imagination through musical summer camps! Asylum for Art Academy has a wide variety of music lessons, but they also host day camps during the summer, designed to inspire joy in children as they discover another world through the musical arts.
Asylum for Art is known as a live music or event venue, a “non-institutional place of refuge for those drawn to music and artful living.” With live performances from an eclectic variety of music, they frequently host events families love. But Asylum for Art Academy also offers music lessons for people of all ages, including fun and musical art-based summer camps!
Summer camps at Asylum for Art start at age 3 and are available for kids up to age 12. The camps include songs and rhymes, an introduction to playing rhythm instruments, and dance and movement exploration. There will be musical games, learning the musical alphabet, and understanding beat versus rhythm. Every day, kids will enjoy a variety of activities, involving singing, listening, moving, and playing. There will be lots of time for musical practice and repetition. Kids will also enjoy storytime, dramatic play, arts and crafts, and enjoying a snack and playing at the neighbourhood park. After an exciting and imaginative week, kids will showcase their new musical knowledge with a parent music class on the final day!

Early Childhood Camps
The Early Childhood summer camps run from 9 am – 12 pm and are open to children ages 3 – 5.
Fairy Tales and Rhymes | July 17 – 21, 2023
This camp brings traditional Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes from our collective childhoods and introduces them to the next generation.
Fairies and Pirates | August 21 – 26, 2023
Inspires imagination and incorporates costumes and dress-up with songs of life on the high seas and the secret lives of fairies.
Children’s Camps
Children’s camps, for ages 5 – 12 years, run for a full day from 9 am – 4 pm.
Theatre for Imagination | July 24 – 28 and August 14 – 18, 2023
Children have a natural inclination to imagine themselves inside their favourite movie or show. This program gives them the opportunity to step into the Theatre of Imagination. With guidance from working professionals, they can become Kristoff, Moana, Gaston, Maribel, or anyone their hearts fixate on. This program will help your child develop their singing voice, confidence, and physical coordination. This class will focus on the basics of introducing movement to song, the concept of adopting a character, and interacting with a peer for a scene. This 5-day camp will be divided between singing, acting, and choreography with a performance to cap the week.
