I had the pleasure of taking the kids to Backyardigans: Quest for the Extra Ordinary Aliens last weekend in Vancouver. We had a good time, and even my husband thought it was cute! The thing about these live shows is that they take the cartoon your kid watches on Treehouse and makes it larger than life. I think this awes the kids a little and that’s why they like them.
This was a fun show and it used songs from many different Backyardigans shows to tell the story, including one of my favourites, Tiki Beach. Don’t mock, I know you all have a favourite too! 😉
The premise is an alien comes to earth and is searching for her adorable, mischievous, oatmeal cookie loving pet monkey who has gotten lost. He scampers across the stage dancing and waving at various times during the show. She searches for and enlists the help of the Backyardigans who act as Daring Detectives, Cookie Security Guards and Space Ace Reporters and together they scale Frozen Toes Mountain, make their way across the Hot Footsy Desert, then end up on the volcanic Lost Pirate Island (my daughter’s personal favorite).
There are still some tickets available to the shows this weekend, so check it out! And while you’re at it, you should enter win a special visit for your child from their favorite Backyardigans character! http://tinyurl.com/4xeku8h
