Canada Day (Family Fun Calgary)

This Canada Day, gather the family, as City of Calgary Parks are planning something to suit all tastes and interests.

Prince’s Island Park

Prince’s Island Park, in the Bow River just off Eau Claire, will be the site of three special Canada Day events this year, plus other family fun!

Indigenous Showcase and Powwow: Take this wonderful opportunity to find out more about Indigenous culture. Children can learn Metis dance steps and try unique arts and crafts while everyone enjoys the traditional Powwow and cultural programs in tipis and Metis trapper tents. Ceremonies, talks and live entertainment.

Francophone Entertainment: Enjoy some unique Francophone entertainment that includes interactive games, mascots, puppet show, Francophone music, Quebec traditional dishes and Maple Taffy. Experience story-telling and Metis finger-weaving, along with Mascots Brisebois and Frogrenouille entertaining children.

Turban Eh!: Participants get to ‘tie-one-on’ and learn about the significance of the turban to the Sikh community. Experience a different culture while having your head wrapped in a turban – you can choose from red or white to continue your celebration of Canadian culture.

Riverfront Avenue – Tim Horton’s Trail

Military Showcase: Learn more about our Canadian Armed Forces with military displays and educational activities from 11 am – 5 pm.

Canada Day Concert: Enjoy live entertainment starting at 6:30 pm and right up until the fireworks. Evening entertainment will include Ghostkeeper, Post Script, Captain Tractor, and Steven Page.

Centre Street Bridge

End the day with a bang and fireworks off the Centre Street Bridge.
