Mom’s Night Out: Wine Women & Shoes

Camp Deja Vu (for Grown Ups!)

Picture a sleep-away camp for grown-ups. Groups of friends come together and leave behind the stresses of adult life by spending a blissful weekend back at camp. The camp weekend is filled with arts ‘n crafts activities, nightly theme parties, drinks, gourmet meals and, of course, all of your favorite classic camp activities from Tug “O” War to Talent Show. It’s the perfect goodbye to summer 2017.

Easter Seal Alberta’s ‘Camp Déjà Vu’ is a fundraising event supporting people with disabilities. Adults (ages 18+) come to Camp in search of that nostalgic summer camp feeling.

Kids 4 Kids Fundraising Concert & Carnival

Musicians 4 Refugees is pleased to be partnering with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary to present Kids 4 Kids Fundraising Concert. Featuring some of Calgary’s top young performers, this family-friendly concert and carnival is raising funds for extracurricular programming for refugee children in Calgary.

Performers include: Calgary Girls’ Choir, Calgary Boys’ Choir, Amici String Ensemble, Arioso Children’s Choir, Mount Royal University’s Outreach Ensembles, magician Richard Young, and Kevin Chen, a piano prodigy from Mount Royal University’s Academy for Gifted Youth. This event is presented by the Calgary North Hill Lions Club and hosted by Mount Royal University.

The carnival begins at 2 pm and the concert commences at 3 pm.

Do Good With Canned Goods

Head to the Calgary Farmers’ Market on Saturday, June 18 from 10 am – 2 pm to celebrate all the superhero fathers! Donate 3 canned goods, $5 cash or 1 bag of fresh food and have your photo taken at the Silly Photo Booth. All donations collected will be donated to the Calgary Food Bank. Plus, there will be more Father’s Day Fun at the market.

Step Up 4 Kids

It’s not every day that kids can climb the Calgary Tower with Mom and Dad. In fact, this event will be one of the few times that they have allowed kids to climb it! All kids 7+ and their families are welcome to register.

Step-Up 4 Kids is a stair climbing event that will challenge you and your family and friends to climb all 802 steps of the Calgary Tower!
This event will help the We Did It! School-Age Care Society get a step closer towards reaching their goal of raising $15,000 through the Shaw Charity Classic’s Birdies for Kids program. The charity’s goal is to open a new childcare program within a secure space; this will aid needy families and provide children with a safe and nurturing environment where they can develop new skills, cultivate their creativity, and discover new and unique opportunities.

Vecova 5K Run & Walk

The First Annual Vecova 5k Run & Walk is fundraising for a Vecova program called Empower Abilities, program is designed to assist children with mild to moderate motor delays in developing and empowering capacity, skill and confidence for community sport, fitness and recreational activities. This will be a fun filled morning for adults and children of all ages, with the top fundraisers receiving awesome prizes.

Ride for Sight 2016

Ride for Sight is a Canadian tradition. For 37 years, motorcyclists from across the country have rallied together in support of vision science – raising more than $20 million for researchers at hospitals and universities coast-to-coast. The July 24th event in Bragg Creek will feature a motorcycle parade, live music & entertainment, Show ‘n’ Shines & bike games, camping & vendor markets, and more. It doesn’t cost anything to go out and have a look!

Camp Valaqua FUNdraiser

Join the folks at Camp Valaqua for a day of traditional camp activities, including archery, canoeing, hiking, and climbing. Spend the day enjoying the great outdoors and stick around for a fabulous meal and live music for folks of all ages… and leave the iPad at home!

Cost is $100 per family or $40 per individual, with all proceeds supporting the camp, including its subsidies for low-income families and new Canadians hoping to experience summer camp. Phone or email for more details.

Lemonade for Change

London Drugs wants to help young people become change agents and build a better future for everyone. Youth (ages 10-18) are tasked to re-think the traditional lemonade stand. They’ll need to channel their inner entrepreneurs, get creative, use social media, grow their businesses, and then they can give back to their local communities.

Youth who share their Lemonade for Change business on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the #lemonadeforchange hashtag will be entered to win weekly prizes, as well as the grand prize, an Entrepreneurial Prize Pack that includes a Certified Data HandyTab 10-inch Tablet, Tucano Finatex Shoulder Case, Epson Workforce All-in-One Printer, Netgear Nighthawk Router, Two tickets to We Day and a $100 London Drugs Gift Card! Prize draws take place September 7th.

Ya Hala Fundraiser for Syrian Refugees in Calgary

“Ya Hala” is a unique evening of Syrian entertainment, fund and food, raising funds for Calgary Syrian Refugees. Ya Hala means “Welcome” in Arabic and the Syrian community is presenting this evening to welcome you to their culture. There will be live music, poetry, dancing, henna painting, food to sample and purchase, a photo booth where you can try out Syrian clothing and take a unique selfie!

Proceeds go the Syrian Women’s Club of Calgary who directly support the Syrian refugees in our city. Presented by the Rotary Club of Calgary Downtown and North and the Syrian Women’s Club of Calgary.

Joggin for a Noggin

Joggin for a Noggin is the second annual fun run to raise money for sending children to summer camp who have had brain or spinal surgery. This run enables children with various neurosurgical conditions to attend Camp Everest South at Camp Horizon. Many of these children have never had the opportunity to attend a summer camp due to their complex medical needs. Financial burdens that come with a medical diagnosis can be significant. We are hoping to be able to continue on with this summer opportunity with a goal of sending 40 children every year.

Joggin for a Noggin is a fun run – Kids and Adults can come in their Halloween Costume!!! The 1.4km walk will have candy stations so bring your loot bag for some fun treats! There is also a 5 k run that starts will the 1.4 km and then continues.

This merry event helps The Salvation Army to assist families and individuals in need during the Christmas season and throughout the year. There’s a 5 km fun run and a 1 km elf walk to choose from.

Frosty’s Birthday: Project Warmth Day

Strategic Group has partnered up with the Calgary Farmers’ Market for Project Warmth Day. We will be collecting gently-used warm clothing from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join us for a fun-filled day in celebration of Frosty’s Birthday! Activities will run from 10 am – 1 pm and include: Christopher Cool Magic Show, photo booth, and Jelly Modern Doughnut decorating for those who donate clothing. Date Night: YYC Hearts Kids Kickoff – Movie Screening

The YYC Hearts Kids campaign is a month-long fundraising initiative presented by Anthem Properties, supporting Pacekids Programs and Make-A-Wish Southern Alberta. Throughout the month of February Kensington will host small initiatives that make a big impact for these two local children’s charities! The kickoff event on February 4th is a chance for grown-ups to enjoy a screening of 500 Days of Summer at the Plaza Theatre in Kensington. Coldest Night of the Year

The Coldest Night of the Year is a super-fun, family-friendly walking fundraiser that raises money for the hungry, homeless and hurting in 100+ communities across Canada. Walk 2, 5, or 10km and feel a hint of the challenge faced by those experiencing homelessness – particularly during the winter.

Beneficiaries: Bankview Apartments (KAIROS & Calgary Homeless Foundation); Feed the Hungry & The Mustard Seed. $25.00 registration fee for those 13 and up or Fundraise $150.00 (adults) or $75.00 (youth 13-17).

Date Night: Making Waves Fundraising Gala

Enjoy a special evening featuring a cocktail hour where you can mingle with local Olympians, silent auction, followed by dinner and keynote presentation from Olympic Gold Medalist, London 2012 Chef de Mission, Rio 2016 CBC Broadcast Team Member and Special Olympics Canada Board of Directors member, Mark Tewksbury.

All proceeds from the evening will go toward supporting high performance swimming in Calgary through the Calgary Foundation for Swimming Excellence. The Foundation supports swimming athletes in Calgary by providing scholarships, creating unparalleled training opportunities and producing top calibre athletes. Together we can ensure these athletes have the opportunity to achieve their dreams and compete on the world stage.
