Green Fools Theatre Winter Programs

Winter can be long, cold, and dark in Calgary, but it doesn’t have to be boring! Don’t let the days slide into drudgery for your kids this year — add a little excitement to their season with the amazing circus programs from Green Fools Theatre. These programs are fun and active and they introduce your kids to fascinating activities where they will be physically challenged and creatively nurtured.

Green Fools Theatre offers a number of interesting circus programs to help aspiring performers and acrobats leap wholeheartedly into life. These programs are for all kids with an interest in the circus — no matter the skill level. Even if your kids have never tried the circus arts before or imagined what they might achieve, they’ll accomplish great things at Green Fools.

With circus skills from basic juggling and balancing to tightwire and aerial, kids will learn new skills in a safe and supportive environment. They will challenge themselves, burn their energy, and build confidence as they master each achievement. Students will receive plenty of one-on-one coaching in the specific areas they are most passionate about. With a focus on fun and growth, Green Fools Theatre is ideal for any youth who has expressed an interest in physical theatre. Sounds like the perfect way to stay warm!

Green Fools Theatre is offering a variety of classes, beginning in January 2023, for kids up to 17 years old. Take a look at all the choices here and keep reading to find out more!

Circus Sampler | Ages 6 – 8 & 9 – 12

This class is a small commitment with BIG fun and no experience required. The 4-week Circus Sampler class gives your kiddos the opportunity to try out circus program offerings to see what they love the best. They’ll try aerial trapeze, hoop, and fabric. Maybe they prefer balance skills like Rola bola, tightwire, stilts, and unicycle. Plus, they’ll start manipulation skills like juggling, poi, and plate spinning. If they love it, Green Fools can recommend the best class to continue in. If they don’t love it, they can check it off their bucket list, “I once was in the circus”! They get to try it all!

Aerial Acro and Circus | Ages 6 – 8

This class is for your budding Circus Star! With an introduction to all the things the circus has to offer, this action-packed class teaches your kiddo balance skills, prop manipulation skills, and ground and aerial acrobatics. There is something for every kid in this class! The class runs weekly from January to April and includes Bring a Friend Week and Sneak Peek for Parents.

Props Manipulation | Ages 9 – 17

Green Fools is not just all about acrobatics! Has your kiddo ever wanted to learn to juggle, do hat tricks, swing poi, spin plates, hula-hoop, jump rope, or so many other things? There is an entire world of Props Manipulation to explore, and this is the class to do just that. This class gives students the time and place to practice their skills without having to worry about the safety of your china cabinet! The class runs weekly from January to April and includes Bring a Friend Week and Sneak Peek for Parents.

Balance | Ages 9 – 17

Does your kiddo love to defy gravity? Maybe you find them balancing on the back of the sofa, standing on the smallest part of the furniture, popping wheelies, and riding their bike with no hands. Green Fools is the place for them to come and hone their balancing skills and learn what it means to defy gravity on the tightwire, unicycle, stilts, walking ball, and more! This class gives students the opportunity to explore their balance and grow their skills in a safe and coached environment. The class runs weekly from January to April and includes Bring a Friend Week and Sneak Peek for Parents.

Mixed Aerial Foundations | Ages 9 – 12 & 13 – 17

This aerial skills class is designed for new students to aerial training. They will focus on safe foundations and progressions in trapeze, hoop, and silks. When students begin their aerial journey, strong foundations will set them up for success in this class and any other aerial training they pursue in the future. The class runs weekly from January to April and includes Bring a Friend Week and Sneak Peek for Parents.

Are your kids ready to move to the next level? They can find classes in Mixed Aerial, Silks, or Hoop and Trapeze. Kids will also explore more choreography work at these levels.
