There is just something magical about a train that captures the imagination of people of all ages . . . the click-clacking sound, the awe-inspiring sight of a ribbon of locomotives cutting through the prairie, and wondering what is in all those cars!
Aspen Crossing invites you to come to its annual celebration of everything to do with trains! It’s on Father’s Day weekend and will be sure to be a memorable day out for the entire family.
First, fuel up for the day by dropping in for a delicious pancake breakfast in the greenhouse from 9 am until noon. Breakfast costs $10 for adults and $6 for children. It’s a great way to start your morning and plan your day!
After that, the greenhouse is also home to the model train displays, from 9 am to 4 pm on both Saturday & Sunday. You’ll discover an entire system of G scale model trains by the Rocky Mountain Garden Railroaders.
In the parking lot, find incredible family activities like children’s train ride from 10 am – 4 pm. Or climb aboard Aspen Crossing’s full-size locomotive and experience an hour-long railway tour – the same train that hosted THE POLAR EXPRESS™! Tickets for these excursions will be available for purchase at the Station and departures will be at 10 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm both days. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $15 for children aged 25 months to 14 years.
Don’t forget to treat dad to Father’s Day brunch aboard the 1887 Pullman dining cars. Sittings are from 9 am to 3 pm. The regular dining menu starts at 4 pm. Don’t forget to take home some plants from their fully-stocked garden centre, too!
The drive to Aspen Crossing is very scenic and it feels like you are experiencing another time and place in Alberta. Experiencing what Alberta life was like when transportation by train was a way of life makes history come alive.
