Whee! Are you looking for the best places to go sledding in Calgary?! Most kids love tobogganing, sledding, and snow tubing and it’s an easy, active way to enjoy winter. It’s a family activity everyone can appreciate, whether you like a peaceful slide or prefer the wind in your face. Here’s where to satisfy your need for speed on the snow in and around Calgary, whether you splurge on a Tube Park or head out for a free activity near you.<\/p>\n

City Parks That Allow Sliding<\/h2>\n

We know that not everyone agrees with this or abides by it, but we would be remiss if we didn’t inform you that Calgary has a bylaw that allows tobogganing and sledding only on the following 22 designated hills within the city. Sledding anywhere else within city limits is against the bylaw and could land you a $100 fine. The bylaw does not apply to private, provincial or federal land. Any snow-covered hill around town can be used for tobogganing. Locals will tell you to visit the Spray Meadows Hill behind the Banff Springs Hotel or the Cascade Ponds on Minnewanka Road. Tube Parks<\/h2>\n

Whether you\u2019ve never touched skis or a snowboard or just want to try something different, snow tubing is a great way to get down the hill. Here’s where to find an official tube park near Calgary!<\/p>\n

WinSport Servus Tube Park at WinSport<\/h3>\n

The\u00a0Servus Tube Park at WinSport offers downhill excitement and winter fun, for any skill level and ability. And you don\u2019t even need to leave the city! One of the largest of its kind in Western Canada, the Tube Park features eight groomed lanes (some designed for single riders and some for groups) and a magic carpet to carry you to the top of the hill. It’s the easiest sledding experience around!<\/p>\n

The minimum age requirement for the Servus Tube Park is 4 years old and the minimum height requirement is 36 inches. Children between 36 and 42 inches must have an adult holding their tube during descent, but kids over 42 inches can tube on their own.<\/p>\n

Nakiska<\/h3>\n

Nakiska’s 3-lane tube park is open between 10 am and 4 pm. Tickets are valid for just 2 hours, so don’t purchase until you’re ready to start sliding. If you have a lift ticket, be sure to show it for a discount on your tube park ticket. Kids under 5 slide free with a paying adult.<\/p>\n

Kids must be at least 42″ tall or 3 years old to ride in the tube park.<\/p>\n

Mount Norquay<\/h3>\n

The snow tube park at Mount Norquay, the only one of its kind in the Banff area, has a snow tube rope tow and large sliding lanes to slide down with your family. The tube park also has a smaller sliding area and a kids’ play area so there is even more to do on the tubing hill for your little ones.<\/p>\n

Kids must be at least 42\u2033 and 4+ to be in the tube park.<\/p>\n

Lake Louise Ski Resort<\/h3>\n

Located at the base of the mountain, guests can grab a tubing ticket from Guest Services, make their way to the beginner carpet area, get a tube and spend the day riding the\u00a04-lane ‘Sunny Tube’ run.<\/p>\n
