We know museum admission costs can add up quickly as a family, and we love that this pass offers a way to save money while being able to experience more as a family this summer and throughout the year.
I first discovered the pass when we were planning a visit to Drumheller several years ago. I bought it ahead of time, and when the kids ended up having so much fun during our first day at the Royal Tyrrell Museum, it was impossible not to say yes to a return visit the next day. A family admission to the Royal Tyrrell Museum is $55 for the day, so with just our two visits, that almost covered the full cost of our $125 Experience Alberta’s History Annual Pass.

The thing we loved most about this pass is the variety. A Family Mammoth Pass to the Royal Alberta Museum comes in slightly cheaper at $90 for the year, but this also encouraged us to get out and discover several other great attractions together. During our year of having the pass, we used it on our summer visit to the Royal Tyrrell Museum, a summer day trip to the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, a fall visit to the Reynolds Museum in Wetaskiwin, and several afternoon trips downtown to the Royal Alberta Museum.
As a parent, I also appreciate not feeling the pressure to maximize every single visit. Our admission was already paid for, so when the kids were done and had had enough, it never felt like we had thrown money, even though we didn’t see everything in that museum!
