This October, it’s time to get out of the city! Is there a better way to celebrate the beauty of fall and the spookiness of Halloween than by heading to the farm and enjoying a pumpkin patch? Especially when it’s the Haunted Pumpkin Festival at Prairie Gardens Adventure Farm, filled with loads of family fun!

Prairie Gardens is a working 35-acre family farm only 25 minutes north of Edmonton, providing local, healthy food and good, old-fashioned fun. They plant over 15 acres of pumpkins of every size, colour, and shape imaginable. It’s the perfect place for families to play together. Kids love the variety of activities at the farm and parents love the fresh air and photo ops in the fall!

Haunted Pumpkin Festival

October at Prairie Gardens Adventure Farm brings the Haunted Pumpkin Festival, a charming tradition that families have enjoyed for 30 years. Every weekend offers a spooky (but not scary!) chance to visit the humongous pumpkin patch, go on hayrides, and lose yourself in the corn maze. The kids will love the bale mazes, a sunflower head maze, farm animals, and a Pumpkin Corn-i-val, filled with pumpkin-themed games. Did we mention there is a Gem Mine, too?!

Whilst y’all are at Prairie Gardens, did you know you can drive down the road a mile to the new ‘Payhonin’ National Healing Forest, located on the Prairie Gardens family farm? The fall forest trails are peaceful and gorgeous in fall colours. A wagon ride will take you around to the vegetable gardens for U-pick potato digging, corn and root veggies at the farm’s big fields to you how this little-big farm has been sustainable for nearly 70 years.

Of course, you don’t want to forget the Halloween excitement! Visit the ghost town of Boo’n Accord, and if you are brave, sneak into the Haunted Farm House. (But don’t worry, it’s kid-friendly, with no gore). If you visit on Halloween Day, kids dressed in costumes will get in for FREE! Whenever you visit, don’t forget to pick out your own perfect pumpkin to get ready for Halloween!
