Ahhhh, August! It’s the month we all want to last at least twice as long as it really does. Hang on to every last moment of summer by enjoying plenty of family fun! American Crown Circus & Circo Osorio

Alberta International Airshow
August 5 & 6 | Prepare to be wowed by the feats of aeronautics as these talented performer-pilots take to the sky above the Villeneuve Airport! In addition to the amazing aerial performances, there’s a Family Fun Zone, a food truck village and much more. Look forward to seeing Snowbirds, the Skyhawks, and so many more!

Edmonton Heritage Festival
August 5-7 | Celebrate the many cultures that make Edmonton so special in a temporary new location at the Edmonton EXPO Centre. Enjoy dozens of pavilions representing countries and cultures across the world through music, dance, entertainment, and of course, FOOD!

Fairy Berry Festival at Prairie Gardens and Adventure Farm
August 5-7 | The fairy berries are said to be the sweetest of the strawberry season! Celebrate them and enjoy all that Prairie Gardens has to offer as well as Fairy Finding Tours with Fizzlewit, live entertainment, face painting, and wagon or trackless train rides. Kids 7 and under get FREE admission to the festival if they come dressed as fairies, pirates or knights!

Fire Station Open House
August 12 & 19 | Edmonton’s friendly fire fighters invite you to check out the station, trucks, equipment and more during a Fire Station Open House. Participating fire city stations in August include Lake District and Ellerslie.

Al Fresco on 104
Every Saturday | Come eat, drink dance and play with this season’s extended offering of fitness classes, art lessons, dog-friendly programming, dance sessions, and more!

Vegreville Fair
August 9-13 | This 5 day Country Fair is celebrating it’s 150th year with bit of everything including a midway, chuckwagon races, grandstand entertainment, horse shows, fireworks, and a Kids Fun Zone. It is a little less overwhelming then K-Days, but still offers up the full exposition experience!

Family Nature Nights
August 9, 16 & 23 | Join Nature Alberta for Family Nature Nights events in local nature areas. Recommended for ages 4 to 12 and their families, this free program includes activities like tree IDing, wildlife tagging, birding, pond dipping, chasing bugs, and touching trout. Come out with your budding naturalist to experience nature, learn something new, and create some fun memories!

Cariwest Fest & Parade
August 11-13 | Let the rhythm get you at this vibrant and colourful festival in which Caribbean Canadians share their music, cuisine and carnival culture! Introduce your kids to amazing dance, music and fun during the parade on August 12 and free family-friendly activities happening in the Caribbean Village.

Arts and Heritage St. Albert 25th Anniversary Community Picnic
August 12 |
Experience history at this free family-friendly event at the Historic River Lots + Grain Elevators. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lunch and blanket to spend time together with an old-fashioned family picnic with face painting, musical performances, and more!

ESO Outdoors Summer Concerts
August 17-20 & 27 | Join members of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra for 5 special ESO Outdoors Summer Concerts in local parks.  Each concert will feature a curated group of ESO members performing memorable songs from all genres including classical, pops and Hollywood. Concerts are pay-what-you-can ($25 suggested).

Fringe Theatre Festival
August 17-27 | The Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival returns to the heart of Old Strathcona this August for 10 days of all-new live theatre and improv adventures. Come on a journey at North America’s largest and longest-running Fringe Theatre Festival – all you need is your backpack, festival guide, walking shoes and your best fringing pals!

Monster Truck Throwdown at RAD Torque Raceway
August 18-20 | Be in the stands to cheer on the drivers of these 10,000 pound, 10 foot tall mammoth machines as they race around the track to smash huge obstacles and pull off some astounding feats!

Londonderry’s Classic Car Show N’ Shine
August 19 | Find all the coolest cars in the Londonderry Mall during their 5th annual Show N’ Shine. Car Buffs of Edmonton invites everyone to spend the day in the sun admiring beautiful classic cars and meeting other car enthusiasts behind the wheel. The family-friendly event will include prize draws, BBQ, music, and more!

Immersive Cinema Experience at ICE District Plaza
August 19 | At these fun and FREE events your family will be transported to the realm of the movie being shown that day with interactive elements such as themed decor, movie character appearances, face painting, balloon animals, and specialty food and drink. YEGO the LEGO Festival at Mill Woods Town Centre
August 19 & 20 | Edmonton’s #1 LEGO festival will bring together young builders of all ages for a fun and friendly building competition with prizes.  Participants will be challenged to unleash their creativity and build their dream community out of LEGO bricks! There are two great ways to get in on the building action – register to pre-build your model from the comfort of your own home, or join other builders for an on-site build at the mall during the event.

Alberta Open Farm Days
August 19 & 20 | Meet your rural neighbours, learn about farming operations, and enjoy some of the freshest food you can find in our province! Alberta Open Farm Days is a province-wide event for foodies, farmers, and families. Albertans are encouraged to come meet their rural neighbours to share stories, see demonstrations, and learn more about the farmers who grow their food.

Dinosaurs Among Us in Stony Plain
August 20-31 | This traveling exhibit from the American Museum of Natural History is a thrilling journey back in time to showcase how dinosaurs evolved into modern-day birds. Guests can look forward to hands-on fun including quizzes, puzzles and games, multimedia displays, and lifelike models of creatures from millions of years ago.

The Northern Catwalk Fashion Show at Londonderry Mall
August 26 | The Northern Catwalk Fashion Show is the perfect spot to find inspiration for a fresh fall wardrobe. Be at the Londonderry Mall’s East Court at 1 pm or 3 pm to see the latest trends on the runway, plus enjoy the live DJ and fantastic prizes!

RiverWatch Eco Float Guided Raft Adventures
