September is here! Harvest time, back to school, and plenty of activities, indoor and out, that your whole family will love! We’ve picked a mere sampling of the family fun events in Edmonton in September – to see everything this month has to offer, head over to the Family Fun Edmonton calendar!
Symphony Under the Sky (September 1 & 2) – Enjoy the sweet sounds of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in the most spectacular outdoor setting, Hawrelak Park, for this annual musical extravaganza!
Cardio for a Cause (September 7) – Workout to help out! Grab your runners, your family and your can-do spirit and head to the Marketplace at Callingwood for this fun fitness event in support of Edmonton’s Food Bank!
Harvest of the Past (September 8) – It’s the final event of the season at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village. The Harvest of the Past allows you to experience the best of autumn from days gone by.
Kaleido Family Arts Festival (September 13 to 15) – Join the free family fun as Alberta Avenue comes alive with creativity, entertainment and arts of every kind!. Kaleido is a celebration of community.
Open Cockpit Day (September 14) – It’s the biggest event of the year at the Alberta Aviation Museum – Open Cockpit Day is your chance to experience the iconic collection of historic aircraft from the pilot’s seat!
Gateway to the Stars (September 14, 21 & 28) – Elk Island National Park is part of the Beaver Hills Dark Sky preserve, making it an ideal place for stargazing! Join the fun at these special events on select Saturday evenings.
Edmonton Expo (September 20 to 22) – Join fans from every corner of the geek galaxy for Edmonton’s biggest pop culture festival, the Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo at the Edmonton Expo Centre.
Great Bear Odyssey in IMAX (September 20) – Get up close and personal with the fabled all-white Spirit Bear in Great Bear Odyssey, the newest IMAX feature film at the TELUS World of Science Edmonton!
Community League Day (September 21) – Get out, meet your neighbours and enjoy a fun, family-friendly community activity! Most community leagues participate on September 21, but some opt for other days, so check with your local league.
Spruce Grove Harvest Fair (September 21) – From potato sack races to scarecrow stuffing, enjoy good, old-fashioned farm fun at the Spruce Grove Harvest Fair!
Stony Plain Old Time Harvest Fair (September 28) – Enjoy square dancing, music, treats and more (like plenty of kids activities!) at the Stony Plain Old Time Harvest Fair!
Alberta Culture Days (September 27-29) – It’s our province’s largest celebration of arts, heritage, diversity and community spirit. This three-day event is part of National Culture Days across Canada.
Free Admission Day (September 29) – Select City of Edmonton Recreation facilities and YMCAs are participating in FREE Admission Day to let everyone get in some healthy, active fun!
Edmonton Corn Maze (All month long) – The stalks are high, the sunflowers are bright, and the farm fun is a plenty! It’s the perfect time to go get lost at the Edmonton Corn Maze!
