Party for the Win with a Nerf Battle Birthday at The Foundry

Nerf Battle Birthday

When 7th birthday party ideas started being discussed in our house, roughly 5 minutes after the conclusion of his 6th birthday party, a very passionate plea for a “Nerf Battle Birthday” was put forth.

Visions of a devastated house and destroyed children filled my mind.

“How about something else?” I pleaded.  Nothing else would do.

So I googled “Nerf Battle Edmonton” and was elated to find The Foundry offering Nerf Kids day camps and birthday parties. It was still December, but the thought of missing out on the exact perfect party was too much to risk, and I booked a party for the end of February. The parties are wildly popular (go figure) and book up quickly, so although to my mind I was calling far too far ahead, three months lead time was actually a good amount of time, anything less than 6 weeks and you may be out of luck.

The NERF arsenal in the quiet before the storm.

The Foundry is an athletic training facility that offers classes in kettle bells and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu when they are not hosting groups of adrenalized nerf-herders for Nerf Battle birthday parties. The birthday party package includes use of the extensive arsenal of Nerf weapons, the battlefield set up with obstacles, two instructors/team leaders and time for presents and cake upstairs afterwards.

Misty Shearer, owner and “Devil Coach” at the Foundry held the kids in thrall as she explained the rules. “They sure listen to her!” one of my friends exclaimed as the kids gathered quietly around her. “Wouldn’t you?” another teased. One of only a few Canadian women with a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and a hugely decorated Kettlebell Sport competitor, Misty cuts an imposing figure. But her delight in working with kids and helping tap into their competitive nature is readily apparent.

Action on the battlefield!

Parties are for groups of up to 14 kids; recommended for ages 6-10, any younger and they have difficulty loading and operating the Nerf weapons. Our group of 6-8 year olds were a tough little bunch, with none of the tears we had braced ourselves for. I have been assured that the party was epic and awesome, which is the highest praise one can achieve from a newly 7 year old. This party is going in the win column!

You can book your own birthday party or find out about Nerf Kids Day camps on The Foundry Athletic Training Centre website, or call 780-469-5771.

Many thanks to Misty and Josh and The Foundry for hosting our wonderful party!
