When businesses across Canada began to close in March, it was hard to imagine when and how things would begin to re-open again. And yet, here we are. Two months later, restrictions are beginning to loosen (not disappear) and businesses in Edmonton are slowly beginning to re-open. However, things will look different for a while. Businesses have had to adapt, prepare and implement all sorts of new strategies for keeping our city safe and healthy. Our desire for this post is to provide as many updates and links as we can to keep you in the know for what is opening, when, and what changes you can expect.

We are currently in Stage 1 of the re-opening plan as outlined by the Alberta government here.

Tuesday, June 9 Update

The Alberta Government has announced that Stage 2 of the relaunch strategy will begin on Friday, June 12. This stage will include the reopening of libraries, theatres, gyms, swimming pools and more. Read the full update here.

Thursday, May 21 Update

The Edmonton Valley Zoo is scheduled to reopen on June 15 with public health measures in place.

The City of Edmonton has advised that playgrounds, skateparks, court sports, disc golf, outdoor fitness parks and athletic tracks will begin re-opening on Friday, May 22. The reopening plan and restrictions can be viewed here.

Wednesday, May 20 Update

The City of St. Albert has started re-opening some public spaces, including some playgrounds. More will re-open in the coming days.

Strathcona County has announced it will begin opening playgrounds on Friday, May 22.

The City of Edmonton’s Emergency Advisory Committee is expected to discuss the status of playgrounds in their weekly meeting on Thursday, May 21.

Friday, May 15 Update

Jurassic Forest is now open, with social distancing in effect.

Royal Alberta Museum re-opens on Saturday, May 16 with time-ticketed admission. See full update here.

Alberta Parks will open the first wave of provincial campgrounds on June 1. Registration has already opened.

Malls have re-opened, many with reduced hours and retailers and public health measures in place.
