March 23-30 | The Edmonton Public Library Spring Break Programming has a little bit of something for everyone! March 23-April 5 | Book your 6-12 year old for a fun behind-the-scenes look at Marine Life on select days during Spring Break! Kids Wonderland is a unique 2 hour drop-off program with crafts, activities, games, and the chance to see some amazing animals up close.

FREE Thursday Admission at the Art Gallery of Alberta
March 28 | On the last Thursday of each month, The Art Gallery of Alberta offers FREE admission for everyone from 4 pm – 7 pm! Don’t forget kids aged 0 to 17 ALWAYS get in FREE so it is a pretty low-cost family activity any day if you can’t make it for the free Thursday time.

Go On a FREE Scavenger Hunt
IKEA Edmonton has a fun in-store scavenger with a sweet prize at the end – a FREE frozen yogurt cone from the Swedish Bistro! Grab a tiny pencil and hunt sheet from the display on the wall to the left of Småland, then have fun together making your way through the IKEA maze on the hunt for clues. If you are an IKEA Family Member, Kids also eat FREE in the Swedish Restaurant on Wednesdays – one free kids meal per adult meal purchased!
Salisbury Greenhouse also has a monthly Scavenger Hunt for the kids! Grab the hunt sheet and search for the hidden images throughout the greenhouse to earn a FREE 2.5″ herb plant to bring home. The greenhouse is currently decked out for Christmas, making it a fun stop for all.

Summer is the perfect time to hit the road and discover new and interesting places with the family! Whether it be for a weekend getaway, or a day trip, Lacombe County offers up a wide range of fun family activities, events, and culinary experiences just a short drive south of Edmonton.

Some of our family’s favourite memories in the area include making sand castles in the sand at Gull Lake, trying new dining options in downtown Lacombe, meeting new feathered friends at Ellis Nature Centre, and getting lost in the corn maze at Kraay Family Farm.
