The Rutherford Manor Haunt is one of those experiences I would selfishly prefer to keep quiet about, but is just too awesome not to share! After a Covid hiatus in 2020, I am so excited to see them back and ready to scare in 2021. The creators behind this walk-thru haunted house go all out transforming this residential home into a multi room haunted experience, complete with character actors and special effects. The haunted house is the product of 10 months worth of hard work and preparation every year and it shows!
Set on a normal neighborhood street in the community of Rutherford, the Rutherford Manor Haunt is easy to pick out with its yard full of creepy decorations. This is nothing compared to the level of detail inside, though! We questioned whether seeing it was worth the wait in the cold, but once we stepped foot inside the answer was a resounding yes. All members of our family were blown away as we moved between the fog machines, creepy decorations and ghostly live actors. And it just keeps going! It is a full on experience where you’ll quickly lose sense of the fact that you are in a house on a normal street in an Edmonton neighborhood.
We visited when our kids were 7 and 9 years old and it was a bit overwhelming for our youngest. This is the perfect option for tweens who want a more intense scare experience, but are not quite old enough for the likes of Deadmonton or DARK: Fort Edmonton Park.
Visit the website for all the great backstory on the Manor and it’s ghoulish inhabitants. This is a truly a labour of love by a group of people very passionate about all things Halloween. Admission is FREE, but attendees are asked to help support the Food Bank and Second Chance Animal Rescue by bringing a food or monetary donation.
