Experience colour in a whole new way with the ROYGBIV exhibit at the Art Gallery of Alberta<\/a>. Our family recently had the chance to visit the gallery and take in all the fun and interactive experiences in this hue-filled feature exhibit.<\/p>\n

\"Art<\/p>\n

ROYGBIV is an acronym to represent the main players in the colour spectrum. Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet. As expected, the exhibit is full of vibrant colours and features that invite you to interact with colour in new and unique ways.<\/p>\n

\"Art<\/p>\n

The exhibit explores our relationship with colours and how they shape the world around us. It is meant to show how colour can alter our mood, change behaviour or transform a physical space.<\/p>\n

\"Art<\/p>\n

Overall I found the exhibit to be a very inviting space that our whole family enjoyed exploring. Seeing something as simple as the way coloured lights can transform a space and change your feelings was simple, but very impactful.<\/p>\n

\"Art<\/p>\n

This was our first visit to the Art Gallery of Alberta, so our family also enjoyed checking out all the other exhibits and permanent collections throughout this unique building. It was a fun and inspiring way to spend a rainy afternoon!<\/p>\n

\"Art<\/p>\n

As always, kids admission to the Alberta Art Gallery is FREE<\/a>. The exhibits change frequently throughout the year, plus there are often hands-on art events<\/a> to bring out your creative side and make it worth visiting over and over.<\/p>\n

\"Art<\/p>\n

Stanley A. Milner Library<\/h3>\n

Since we were already downtown, we decided to take the opportunity to also finally check out the other interesting shaped building on the block – the Stanley A. Milner Library. I was met with groans from my children about going to the “boring old library” but that quickly dissipated once they stepped inside the newly renovated building. As expected, the huge interactive wall was a big hit with both kids!<\/p>\n

\"Stanley<\/p>\n

We spent longer in the library then I expected as the kids made their way to the Imagination Room and worked together to build a bridge out of large foam blocks. What started out as a silly joke between them actually ended up being a nice moment of teamwork and sibling bonding.<\/p>\n

\"Stanley<\/p>\n

There are so many fun interactive features in the children’s section of the library! My kids are getting a bit old for some of it, but it was still worth checking out and taking the time to explore and play. Next time we definitely need to head upstairs and check out the gaming area.<\/p>\n

\"Stanley<\/p>\n

Our family rarely ventures downtown, so this was a fun and interesting day for everyone. It was a good reminder that there are many fun and unique things to experience in our own city and that often it can be inexpensive or even free.<\/p>\n
