We all know that there’s no crying in baseball and now young girls in Nova Scotia have a lot more to celebrate with Canadian Girls Baseball – Nova Scotia Division in town!
These girls are definitely ‘in a league of their own’ as the newly branded Canadian Girls Baseball partners with Baseball Nova Scotia and the Toronto Blue Jays’ Jays Care Foundation to form a new baseball development league for girls ages 4-12.
Yes, girls have been playing ball for years but Canadian Girls Baseball provides a unique opportunity for young girls to connect with strong female mentors and coaches by using baseball as a medium to promote increased self-esteem, leadership and teamwork. These girls will work with female coaches who will help to foster their love of baseball and love of self in a safe, inclusive league, just for them.
Not only will these girls have an opportunity to learn the game, they will also develop social skills and learn leadership and communication skills that will in turn help them to learn more about themselves. This baseball program teaches girls how to play to win and how to learn to lose. They will be coached to trust in their abilities and to learn to accept constructive criticism and use it to their benefit.
Canadian Girls Baseball offers a summer league and winter indoor program.
Registration is now open for their Winter Program which runs from January 12th to March 9th, 2019. Click here for more information or to register. The cost for the winter program is $110 but Family Fun readers can enjoy a 10% discount by using promo code “FAMILYFUN” when registering!
It turns out that a diamond really can be a girls’ best friend. Play ball!
