Halifax Events - March

March is one of my favourite months of the year. I know, it can be big slushy mess out there but it’s when all things start to come to life again and we really do have lots to celebrate! The clocks go ahead on March 10th to give us an extra hour for the sun to shine. St. Paddy’s Day is on March 17th and bonus – it’s a weekend! HRSB March Break is March 18th – 22nd and is packed with fun events for the kids. Spring is in the air and officially here on March 21st!

Motorcycle and Powersport Atlantic (March 1-3): Atlantic Canada’s premier bike event is coming to the Halifax Exhibition Centre. Bring the whole family, especially your little motorcycle lovers! There will be hundreds of units on-site including the latest models of motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs and more!

Mini Pop Kids (March 2): Join the Mini Pop Kids in Halifax on their “Take Flight Tour” as they share their talents, youthful energy and love of music with you and your family! These kids are full of positive energy, inspiring young fans to chase their dreams.

Symphony Nova Scotia Family Series (March 2-3): Symphony Nova Scotia celebrates the courage and strength it takes when arriving in a new place, with their Family Series performance of ‘Newcomers!’. Join in the celebration of the amazing music that has been brought to our shores.

Atlantic Outdoor Sports and RV Show (March 8-10):  Get inspired for summer in the great outdoors! If you like hiking, camping and outdoor adventures, you will find it all at the Sports and RV Show.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade (March 10): ‘Top o’ the mornin’ to ya’! Whether you’re Irish, want to be Irish or just love the Irish, there’s always good Craic to be had at the Paddy’s Day Parade!

March Break at Ross Farm (March 16-24): Enjoy a day away from the city at beautiful Ross Farm. There are lots of March Break Events happening at the farm with a different farm theme showcased each day!

March Break at Pier 21 (March 18-21): There’s song and dance and food for the soul at Pier 21 this March Break. Join in one of their workshops or check out their featured March Break activities – a special tour of Pier 21 and a family tree activity. Activities are included with Museum admission.

March Break at Shubenacadie Wildlife Park (March 18-22): The Park will be open each weekday morning for animal viewing with a different activity scheduled each day at the DUC Greenwing Legacy Centre.

March Break at Chapters (March 18-22): Head to Chapters for some FREE March Break Fun! They will have a different activity to keep the kids busy each morning of March Break.

March Break at Hatfield Farm (March 18-22): Calling all Cowpokes! Hatfield Farms has three Family Roundups each day of the week during March Break. Did someone say all-you-can-eat hot dogs?

March Break at the Cineplex (March 18-22): There’s some ‘Reel Deals’ at the Cineplex this March Break. Four different movies will be playing each day for only $2.99!

March Break at Mastermind Toys (March 18-22): Is it possible to make a toy store MORE fun? Mastermind just did with their March Break activities scheduled three times each day with a different activity daily. Pre-registration required.

March Break at Sugar Moon Farm (March 18-22): March means maple syrup! Sugar Moon Farm will be open during March Break and they are also open each Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the month of March. Head to the farm for some delicious maple magic!

Halifax Burger Week: (March 28-April 3): This city wide burger-eating celebration is a fundraiser for Feed Nova Scotia and last year raised over $115,000! During Burger Week, over 125 local restaurants will feature tasty burger specials for one week only, many with a special $6 burger on the menu.

Neat Repeats Consignment Sale (March 30): The first of the Spring consignment sales kicks off in Hammonds Plains. Stop by early for great deals on kids clothes, toys, books and more – all at big discounts!

Mermaid Theatre Presents ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ (March 30): The world-renowned Mermaid Theatre will returning home to Windsor for a special production of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favourites’. This hour-long show also features ‘Little Cloud and The Mixed-Up Chameleon‘.

Wonders of Maple Syrup at Ross Farm (March 30-31): Have you ever wondered how Maple Syrup goes from the trees to your pancakes? Learn all about tapping trees, collecting sap and boiling it down over an open fire at Ross Farm.

Cheer Expo National Championships (March 30-31): For the 16th year, the CheerExpo National Championships returns to Halifax to present the largest cheerleading competition in Atlantic Canada! This year’s event will be the biggest yet with over 125 teams from Quebec, Ontario and Atlantic Canada.

Don’t forget, in addition to these events above, there are lots of ongoing activities at these great Halifax attractions:
Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, Discovery Centre, Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Museum of Natural History, Africville Museum, Halifax Central Library, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Shearwater Avaiation Museum, Ross Farm Museum and Shubenacadie Wildlife Farm.
