Halifax March Events

March is one of my favourite months of the year. I know, it can be a big slushy mess out there but it’s when all things start to come to life again and we really do have lots to celebrate! Check out all the great family-friendly events in March… he clocks go ahead on March 8th to give us an extra hour for the sun to shine. St. Paddy’s Day is on March 17th and the HRCE March Break is March 16th – 20th. With all these exciting events, our calendar is packed with family-fun events. Spring is in the air and officially here on March 20th!

Family-Friendly Events in March in Halifax and Beyond!

Motorcycle and Powersport Atlantic (March 6-8): Atlantic Canada’s premier bike event is coming to the Halifax Exhibition Centre. Bring the whole family, especially your little motorcycle lovers! There will be hundreds of units on-site including the latest models of motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs and more!

MSVU Kids Carnival (March 7): The Mount Saint Vincent Student Union’s Fountain Playcentre is hosting their 19th annual Kids Carnival. Join them for an afternoon of bouncy castles, face painting, snacks, and more!

Halifax Thunderbirds Lacrosse Kids Day Game (March 8): Our Halifax Thunderbirds take on the Buffalo Bandits at the Annual Kids Day Game. The kids are invited to stay and play on the turf post-game!

Sackville Sandwich Week (March 7-14): Bring your appetite and get ready for a tasty treat! There will be 16 locations ready to serve up some of the best sandwiches Sackville restaurants have to offer!

Michaels Kids Make Week (March 8-13): Michaels is hosting a special week of crafts for kids! Their Kids Make Week features a different craft each day and it’s all FREE!

Atlantic Outdoor Sports and RV Show (March 13-15):  Get inspired for summer in the great outdoors! If you like hiking, camping and outdoor adventures, you will find it all at the Sports and RV Show.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade (March 15): ‘Top o’ the mornin’ to ya’! Whether you’re Irish, want to be Irish or just love the Irish, there’s always good Craic to be had at the Paddy’s Day Parade!

March Break at the Discovery Centre (March 14-22): The Discovery Centre has a schedule bursting with fun this March Break! Enjoy immersive dome theatre shows, live science shows, science on the spot and their feature exhibit, ‘Beyond Rubik’s Cube’.

March Break at Ross Farm (March 14-22): Enjoy a day away from the city at beautiful Ross Farm. There are lots of March Break Events happening at the farm with a different farm theme showcased each day!

March Break at Pier 21 (March 16-20): Bam! Pow! Get ready for ‘Super March Break at the Museum’, an action-packed March Break as they celebrate our beloved superheroes – through music, dance, food, crafts, and movies. Enjoy hands-on learning and fun workshops featuring both comic book characters and ‘real-life’ superheroes from our community!

March Break at the Home Depot (March 16-20): At the Home Depot Halifax and Dartmouth, there will be a different Kids Workshop every weekday. Register, either by phoning or dropping by the customer service desk.

March Break at Chapters (March 16-20): Head to Chapters for some FREE March Break Fun! They will have a different themed activity each day of March Break with a morning and afternoon session.

March Break at Hatfield Farm (March 16-20): Calling all Cowpokes! Hatfield Farms has three Family Roundups each day of the week during March Break. Did someone say all-you-can-eat hot dogs?

March Break at the Cineplex (March 16-20): There are some ‘Reel Deals’ at the Cineplex this March Break. Four different movies will be playing each day for only $2.99!

March Break at Sugar Moon Farm (March 17-20): March means maple syrup! Sugar Moon Farm will be open during March Break and they are also open each Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the month of March. Head to the farm for some delicious maple magic!

Halifax Burger Week: (March 26-April 1): This city-wide burger-eating celebration is a fundraiser for Feed Nova Scotia and last year raised over $150,000! During Burger Week, over 150 local restaurants will feature tasty burger specials for one week only, many with a special $6 burger on the menu.

Neat Repeats Consignment Sale (March 28): The Spring consignment sales are gearing up. Stop by the Hammonds Plains Sale for great deals on kids clothes, toys, books and more – all at big discounts!

Wonders of Maple Syrup at Ross Farm (March 28-29): Have you ever wondered how Maple Syrup goes from the trees to your pancakes? Learn all about tapping trees, collecting sap and boiling it down over an open fire at Ross Farm.

Cheer Expo National Championships (March 28-29): For the 17th year, the CheerExpo National Championships returns to Halifax to present the largest cheerleading competition in Atlantic Canada! This year’s event will be the biggest yet with over 125 teams from Quebec, Ontario and Atlantic Canada.
