May… ahhh. Yes, Spring is officially upon us in March, but May is the month where we can confidently pack away the snow pants and comfortably break out the shorts. May is always greeted with open arms as we celebrate our first long weekend of the summer! Seasonal Farmers Markets start to come alive, Spring kids consignment sales continue and craft fairs are plenty! The May long weekend is the season opening weekend for Scotia Speedworld and of course May is Mother’s Day – let’s celebrate all the Moms in our lives!

Unicorn Theatre (April 26-28, May 3-5): The Unicorn Theatre presents ‘Seussical Jr.’ Join them as they bring to life some of Dr. Seuss’s best-loved characters.
Halifax Crafters Society’s Spring Market (May 4-5): Just in time for Mother’s Day, check out the Halifax Crafter’s amazing local artisans and crafters.
Giant Used Book Sale (May 4-5): Pick up some super deals on previously loved books, including lots of kids books! Proceeds are in support of Symphony Nova Scotia.
The Rainbow Fish (May 5): World-renowned Mermaid Theatre in Windsor will be performing their puppetry adaptation of ‘The Rainbow Fish’. This show will also include two other Marcus Pfister tales – ‘Rainbow Fish Discovers and Deep Sea and Opposites‘.
Dartmouth Makers Spring Market (May 10-11): The Dartmouth Makers annual Spring marketplace will feature 58 vendors selling jewellery, apparel, textiles, stationary/prints, home decor, food and more!
Open City Halifax (May 11): Halifax is throwing a party… and everyone’s invited! It’s Open City Halifax 2019!
AGNS Family Sunday (May 12): Get creative! Join the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia once a month for their Family Sunday Event with studio activities that are inspired by a specific exhibition or theme. Join them this month for ‘Women Artists in Shifting Ground’.
Sharon, Bram and Friends Farewell Tour (May 12): Skinnamarink! After 40 years of children’s performances, Sharon, Bram and friends will entertaining one last time as they bring their Farewell Tour to Halifax.
CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series Season Opener (May 19): The CARSTAR racing series gets underway with its opening weekend at Scotia Speedworld.
Annual Kids’ Fishing Derby (May 25): It’s the 5th Annual Kids’ Fishing Derby at White Point Beach Resort… and it’s FREE for kids 15 yrs and younger.
IWK Kermesse Fun Fair (May 25): The IWK Kermesse Fun Fair is one of the IWK’s biggest fundraising events of the year and one of the best Fun Fairs in the city! Come join in the fun for a great cause!
Outgrow, Outplay Consignment Sale (May 25-26): Outgrow Outplay is the biggest Kids Consignment Sale in HRM. Stop by for some great deals on quality items.
Hali-ditarod (May 26): The Hali-ditarod Race – dress up, cause chaos, do good! This is a spectacle that everyone in Halifax is going to want to see!
Lebanese Cedar Festival (May 30-June 2): It’s the 13th Annual Lebanese Cedar Festival, where you can savour the sights, sounds and tastes of everything Lebanese. This popular summer festival includes four days of world class entertainment, authentic Lebanese cuisine, Lebanese musical and cultural shows, a children’s fun play area and much more!
