The New Years Day Levee is a wholly Canadian event! Read more about the tradition here. In Halifax, there are several Levees, which are simply meet-and-greets for Governors and dignitaries or elected officials to say “Happy New Year!” to the public.  Although most kids over the age of 10 are likely to deem this event “boring”, your own well-dressed and well-mannered kiddie may find awe in the beautiful architecture of City Hall or Government House, or might always remember the handshake from a well-decorated Brigadier on New Years morning. Find out, when you take your family to these free community events: a wonderful New Year’s Tradition!
