‘Sailor’s Valentines’, first thought to be an onboard ship’s craft, were made in Barbados and sold as souvenirs to sailors heading home to their sweethearts. This Valentine’s Day at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, you can make a sailor’s valentine too! These beautiful Valentine’s are made by using ordinary beach shells and gluing them in fancy patterns onto a backing. Drop in between 1-3 pm, and use the shells supplied by the museum, or bring your own! This fun Valentine’s Day activity is included in the Museum admission price.
