Family Ranch Adventure

Are you ready for a fun-filled day at the ranch with the whole crew? Enjoy unlimited pony rides and then play with Tom, Jerry, and Pixie, the resident goats, in the petting pen. You never know who else might be there – you may even encounter a pig, cow, and possibly a llama!

Ready for more action? Try your skills on their mechanical bull and sticky wall. What’s a sticky wall, you ask? It’s a whole lot of fun and laughs!

In true amusement park-style, they have a food cart on-site with hot dogs, pop, chips, cotton candy, and snow cones. The Family Ranch Adventure is available Thursday through Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm. Your ranch adventure awaits!

Trail Riding Adventures

There is no better way to be immersed in nature and freedom than riding a horse through the beautiful trails at Shelby Ranch. Their professional team of guides and horses will lead you through the wooded trails where you will ride your own horse and see the best that nature has to offer. These ‘no experience necessary’ rides are perfect for families and children to truly experience a day at the Ranch.

Experience Shelby Ranch

(Available all year)
This 1.5-hour ride explores the wooded trails with beautiful scenery. Take a summer sunshine ride, a beautiful fall adventure, or a winter expedition – these rides are a different experience as the season changes!
Cost: Private – $100 + HST per rider/Group of 2 or more – $60 + HST per rider

Moonlight Rancher

(Available April to October)
Enjoy an evening sun-setting trail ride and return to the ranch at dusk for a campfire with s’mores!
Cost: $80 + HST per rider

The Rancher

(Available May to October)
Saddle up and explore with this ultimate afternoon adventure! This 3-hour ride is the perfect way to see the countryside and includes lunch.
Cost: Private – $210 + HST per rider/Group of 2 or more – $180 + HST per rider

Lil’ Rancher Pony Rides

Lil’ Rancher pony rides are for the youngest of cowpokes – ages 2 and up! Would you like to ride alongside your child?  No problem! Pony rides are also available for the young-at-heart cowpokes (weight limit 240 lbs). A Shelby Ranch Wrangler will lead your pony around in their pony ride corral. No need to worry about steering or controlling the pony – just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Cost: $25 + HST per ride

Glamping at Shelby Ranch

Glamping at the Shelby Ranch is a Nova Scotia stay-cation like no other. If you are truly looking to get away from it all, the unique overnight accommodations at the Shelby Ranch are your oasis getaway!

Their bunkhouse is nestled in the back of the 48-acre property, where you will wake up to horses in the field and a babbling brook with a swimming hole nearby. This bunkhouse will sleep a family of 4 and in true camping style, is set up with your own private bathhouse with an outhouse and outdoor shower. Don’t forget the marshmallows… the bunkhouse is also equipped with a barbeque and bonfire pit!

Shelby Ranch BunkhouseTheir Horse Camper is a horse-lovers experience like no other. Spend the night in the converted horse trailer – complete with living quarters, a kitchenette, toilet, and small shower. Wake up to horses grazing in the pasture and spending the day trail riding on your ranch adventure!
Cost: $135 + HST/night (up to 2 guests)
Make memories with your family at Shelby Farm and enjoy a day away from the city! If you are spending the night, make a weekend of it and check out a few of our favourite stops on the way home… Victoria Park in Truro or the Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park. If it’s strawberry season, make a stop at MacLean Upick, just down the road from the Ranch. And how about a spring visit to Shelby Ranch with a pitstop at Sugar Moon Farm on the way back? So much fun to be had in this part of our beautiful province!
