For some family-friendly Halloween fun, visit the museum on October 27th to explore a perfect event for little ones new to Halloween. You can take in the galleries with the lights down low, enjoy a spooky (but not too spooky) story under the stars, a scavenger hunt, and more!

Join in on some natural history fun and take part in the following activities:

Puppet Show “Animals at Night”

When we go to sleep at night, some animals are just starting their day. Take an adventure into the world of nocturnal animals. Showtimes: 10:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, and 2:30pm.

Bug Cooking: Trick or Treat?

Enjoy the Halloween classic of mealworms or crickets. A little seasoning helps it go down! (Shellfish allergy warning)

Cooking times: 10:30am – 11:30am and 2:00pm – 3:00pm

Spooky Stories Under the Stars

Stop in the Science on a Sphere gallery to listen to some spooky tales. Story times: 11:00am and 2:00pm

Creepy Crafts

Create a creepy, crawly craft to take home! Runs all day.

What Are You Afraid Of?

Learn about a couple of the creatures that cause our skin to crawl with our fears and frights phobia table. Runs all day.

Examining Specimens

What does a frog look like under its skin? What does a bone feel like? Explore bones through real museum specimens and x-rays! Science of skeletons table. Runs all day.

Bat Scavenger Hunt

Explore the darkened hallways and galleries of the museum, searching for hidden bat silhouettes. Bet you can’t find them all! Scavenger hunt runs all day.
