It’s Family Fun February! Celebrate with 3 FREE and Fantastic Programs from the City of Saskatoon

City of Saskatoon Family Fun FebruarySaskatoon is ALIVE during the winter season! With skating rinks to enjoy and cross-country ski trails to explore, with indoor pools and 6 fantastic Leisure Centres to take the chill off, winter is a great time to get active and celebrate! The City of Saskatoon is doing just that with the introduction of their Family Fun February Activities and Events! With 3 amazing programs to choose from, and ALL at no cost, you don’t want to miss out! Here’s what’s happening:

Winter Play Program |  January 21 -March 9

Pre-register for ACTIVE winter games and activities while developing skill in classic Canadian or Indigenous sports. Registration is FREE!

Learn-to-Curl

All participants must wear a helmet and bring their own indoor shoes to try their hands and feet at this all-Canadiana sport!
When: January 27 (Registration Code CD1382-01) & March 9 (Registration Code CD1382-02)
Time: 1 – 5pm
Ages: 8 – 12 years
Location: CN Curling Club, 1602 Chappell Drive

Learn-to-Snowshoe*

Experience this low impact, high enjoyment activity in one of Saskatoon’s community parks.
When: February 1 (Registration Code CD1385-01)
Time: 1 – 4pm
Ages: 6 – 12 years
Location: Dr. Seager Wheeler Park Rec Unit, 2304 Richardson Road

Learn-to-Snowskate*

Snowboarding + Skateboarding = Snowskating! A delightful hybrid sport for those looking for a challenge.
When: February 8 (Registration Code CD1384-01)
Time: 1 – 4pm
Ages: 6 – 12 years
Location: Greystone Park Rec Unit, 2711 Main Street

Learn-to-Altai Ski*

Think the maneuverability of snowshoes combined with the gliding of cross-country skis at this learn-to program.
When: February 9 (Registration Code CD1386-01)
Time: 1 – 4pm
Ages: 6 – 12 years
Location: Montgomery Park Rec Unit, 3229 Caen St.

Snowshoe Making*

Watch, learn and do as an Elder guides you through the art of snowshoe making while explaining their history in Indigenous culture.
When: January 21 (Registration Code CD1386-01)
Time: 5:30 – 8:30pm
Ages: 10 – 12 years
Location: Saskatoon Indian & Metis Friendship Centre, 168 Wall Street

*Activities will be cancelled if the temperature reaches -25°C or below with the windchill or due to adverse ice conditions.

February Break Camps | February 18 – 20

Pre-register to GET ACTIVE at these amazing February Break Camps! Four FREE camps in three days offer an opportunity to learn new sports from qualified instructors. The camps are open to kids aged 10 – 14 years. Check out the schedule:

Sledge Hockey

Suspension/TRX

Time: 1 – 4pm
Location: Shaw Centre, 122 Bowlt Crescent

Pre-registration for all programs above is required at leisure.saskatoon.ca or by calling or visiting any Leisure Centre.

Family Day Skate + Winter Activities| February 17

Bring your skates and safety gear and come down for an afternoon of skating, winter activities and indoor fun! Skating will take place at the Cosmo Arena, while non-skating activities will be offered in the gymnasium, as well as outdoors, and will include Indigenous teachings and more! This event is FREE for all ages and runs at the following:
