About kartSTART

kartSTART is a wonderful, entertaining half-day drivers education program that helps young and old alike learn about how a motor vehicle responds on the road. kartSTART owner and lead instructor, Russ Bond, has been involved in the automobile industry for over 30 years. He is a well-respected automotive journalist and semi-retired race car driver and enjoys sharing his expertise with future drivers. “The program here at kartSTART is very innovative,” says Bond. “I like to compare it to hockey to make it easier for parents to understand — if you have two 16-year-olds and they want to start playing hockey, but one has been playing since he was 12 years old, and the other one has never been on skates, it’s easy to predict who will be the better hockey player. It’s the same thing with driving. Here, we help kids prepare for the daunting task of driving on today’s roads with the masses. It’s as simple as that.”

kartSTARTThe half-day course gives children and teens as young as 10 a driving experience in a vehicle that fits them — our go karts! The driving experience includes: interactive safety briefing by professional driving instructors including one-on-one interaction; use of a professional kart; Snell approved helmet, and CIK racing suit. Karting participants take part in safety oriented lead/follow sessions with our instructors. Families will experience our Toyota Safety Sense demonstration exercises that are fun for the whole family. And of course we include a catered lunch for all attendees
