Prince Albert National Park has trees for your family to find an amazing Christmas Tree. We found the one that was perfect for us. I’m not sure if it’s because of the lack of snow but we’ve taken longer than usual to start decorating, including putting up our tree. We also took longer to decide what kind of tree we would use. We have a fake one and we also make sure to get a real one every few years. I know a lot of places where we could get a real tree because of our guide about Real Christmas Trees in Saskatoon and the Area<\/a>. This year we did something completely new and we timed it out perfectly. It seems most households lately are fighting off illnesses of all kinds and we took the trip to get our tree right before it hit our house again. (It’s also why it took me a little longer to get this article out.) If you are like us and haven’t had as much time to do everything you needed, including a lovely-smelling tree, this is a wonderful adventure for you and your family. Please note, we did this in 2023, but it’s on again this year.<\/p>\n

Prince Albert National Park Visitor Centre<\/p><\/div>\n

How do you get a tree? It’s an easy process. You can stop by the Visitor Centre and pick up a Christmas Tree Harvest Permit. They are available free of charge. They will tell you where to go and give you a map. The tree permit is free so all you have to pay for is your entry into the Prince Albert National Park. (And if you’re coming from Saskatoon, you will need gas!) Why would you get a tree from Prince Albert National Park? The trees are harvested from the fuel break surrounding Waskesiu and getting your tree there helps protect the town from potential wildfires.<\/p>\n

Snow!<\/p><\/div>\n

I’ll admit, my favourite part of this family trip was the snow. We had finally found some snow to play in. There was a point when we weren’t sure if we could find the perfect tree, and we all admitted it didn’t matter because we loved the snowy hike. It’s an adventure but it is hard to find the right tree. We brought a sled for the tree and my son was excited to ride in it until we had to use it for the tree.<\/p>\n

Beauty surrounds us.<\/p><\/div>\n

The day was stunning. The sun was out and we had no wind. We walked on the path and made our own trail at times when we wanted to check out the trees. It took as a while to find a tree we wanted to bring home with us but the beauty surrounded us made the entire trip worth it. Sunshine, family, hiking and the beautiful smell of nature.<\/p>\n

We found a tree!<\/p><\/div>\n

We finally found the perfect tree to take home. My son safely helped my partner saw it down and then we headed back to the truck for the journey home. This was a day my family needed. Some time in the forest surrounded by trees and snow. Rides in the sled and coffee to go. I don’t know if we’ll do it every year but this won’t be the last tree adventure. We are also going to be planning some more winter and summer adventures at Prince Albert National Park. We had a beautiful day and coming home to set up the tree helped get us all in the Christmas spirit.<\/p>\n
