My family loves visiting Cranberry Flats<\/a> Conservation Area. We go for hikes there any chance we get because we know our nature strolls will cheer us up – although my son doesn’t stroll: he runs, jumps, hides, off roads and skips. This winter, we haven’t had as many chances to visit because first we were waiting for snow and then for warmer weather. It finally came and we went for our first snowshoe last Friday. We love our snowshoe adventures at this spot.<\/p>\n

The Entrance to Cranberry Flats Conservation Area<\/p><\/div>\n

How to Get to Cranberry Flats Conservation Area<\/h3>\n

It’s easy enough to find Cranberry Flats<\/a>. You need to head south on Lorne Avenue – this will turn into Highway 19. Turn right onto Road 360 and then left onto Road 3055. You’ll see the parking lot on the right with the big sign. It’s not a far drive and even in the winter, the roads are pretty easy to drive on.<\/p>\n

Ready to snowshoe.<\/p><\/div>\n

What Can You Do There?<\/h3>\n

You can take your dogs for walks (on leash), take solo walks, or have a family adventure. There are many different trails to choose from and in winter, when everything is covered in snow, you can end up off the path and making your trail. That’s my son’s favourite part. In the summer, you’ll find paths as well as some sandy areas to explore.<\/p>\n

We’ve seen people cross-country skiing, walking or snowshoeing. It doesn’t matter which way you choose, you will love the views – you just have to walk to see them. In my personal opinion, any walk that allows me a view of our beautiful South Saskatchewan River is completely worth it.<\/p>\n

Snowshoe Adventures<\/h3>\n

My son and I have finally arrived in our snowshoeing groove. In past years, my son would have lost one along the way and I would end up carrying one or both for him so he could climb hills. This year, he did our entire adventure and was able to climb hills with his snowshoes on – and he got up the hills faster than his mom. We are going to spend as much time as we can this year hunting for our favourite places to snowshoe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Saskatchewan’s Winter Wonderland<\/h3>\n

We had so much fun in the fluffy snow at Cranberry Flats. We’re already planning our next trip because the best thing about exploring this area is that each time we can choose a different route and see something completely new. We’ve tried many different trails and even when we take ones we know, we still end up looking at a different view and snowshoeing in a new-to-us area. We had a wonderful afternoon and can’t wait to get our snowshoes back on and enjoy our winter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
