Sankofa Day is a free, full-day event festival at Sankofa Square (formerly Yonge-Dundas Square) to mark a new cultural tradition for Toronto and to celebrate the African Diaspora with Indigenous and African ceremonies, as well as art, music, and community engagement. With the theme of “Looking Back, Building Forward”, the event include live performances, including a DJ set by legendary Toronto rapper Kardinal Offishall, sports activations by Canada Basketball, the Toronto Raptors, and HOOPQUEENS, plus food vendors and a closing party.
