Camp Kodiak is a unique, integrated, non-competitive summer camp for children and teens, ranging in age from 6 to 18. For over 30 years, they have offered campers with and without learning disabilities, ADHD and high-functioning ASD an amazing summer camp experience, designed to enrich social skills while making friends and having fun! They also run an academic program, plus over 50 exciting activities.

The camp is located about 25 minutes northeast of Parry Sound, Ontario near the town of McKellar. The camp sits on a 425-acre site with approximately 2.5 miles of waterfront on Moffat Lake.

Camp Activities

All camp activities aim to teach skills, build confidence and improve self-esteem by carefully structuring them to ensure success. Skilled instructors break tasks down into manageable chunks and present them in a logical sequence so campers achieve success. They also acknowledge every accomplishment, and never miss the opportunity to provide positive feedback and recognition. Furthermore, athletic instructors de-emphasize competition, stress co-operation and sportsmanship, and model appropriate behaviours and attitudes.

Kodiak On The Land

Surrounded by forests, campers enjoy the open air and beauty of the countryside with just enough of their home comforts to feel comfortable and safe. There is a huge range of land sports that also accommodates all levels of athleticism and skill. Campers try new activities in a safe and secure environment and celebrate all successes, great or small.

The sports program focuses on the virtues of sportsmanship, camaraderie, fair play and support. At the end of their stay at camp, all campers return home with awards and certificates that further celebrate their successes at camp.

Kodiak On The Water

A team of experienced and certified lifeguards and swim instructors supervise Camp Kodiak’s waterfront and their main goal is for all of our campers to have fun in a safe environment. Activities vary daily, from swimming to building sandcastles, hanging out on the beach, and enjoying a game of volleyball.

Water World is an adventure playground that is a very popular part of the waterfront! It features a water trampoline, slide, jungle gym, hamster wheel and launch pad.

Kodiak Creative Arts

Campers at Camp Kodiak explore all areas of the arts, with activities ranging from stained glass and pottery to photography and cartooning. These activities spark an interest in the campers to explore their creative potential.

Drama classes include games and improv activities that push campers to work on expressing themselves verbally and physically. In all activities, they strive to increase a camper’s self-confidence.
