Does your child have an interest in the dramatic arts? Then, allow your budding star to get creative at Great Big Theatre Company (GBTC)! Their March Break day camps, in locations across the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario, bring kids together through improvisation, theatre games, stagecraft and performance.
This exciting March Break Camp program lets all participants participate fully and equally because GBTC’s enthusiastic staff members create a helpful and non-competitive environment. Plus, the camper-to-staff ratio is low, so everyone feels seen and supported!
Through fun and creative games that explore their vocal, physical and emotional potential, the kids develop their performance skills and confidence. Meanwhile, campers work together to assemble and perform an exciting end-of-week presentation for their parents, friends and relatives.
Whether your little actor wants to “trod the boards” as a career or just to play around, drama and theatre training can aid their personal development and gain many new skills they might not realize. Certainly, your child will discover talents they never knew they had and do things they didn’t know they could!
Drama is personally energizing and teaches kids how to dream big and feel free to become a new character. Their increased communication, self-presentation skills and physical coordination help build their self-esteem. Also, the cooperative element of drama helps develop teamwork and trust, and campers make new friends with common interests. Of course, they have lots of fun too!
GBTC March Break Theatre Camp (Ages 6-14)
The March Break Camp program at Great Big Theatre Company provides a rewarding way to stimulate and challenge campers of all age levels. Jam-packed with fun, the schedule includes plays, mime, improvisation, theatre games, musical theatre, and work with simple sets and costumes. Furthermore, participants are kept busy all day with collaborative and engaging activities, like drama games, improvisations, art projects, plays and scenes, music, movement activities, and even dance parties!
The campers develop their confidence while engaging in games and exploring their vocal, physical and emotional potential. Working together within their age groups and also across age levels, they create an end-of-week presentation performed on Friday afternoons for an audience of parents, friends and relatives. Equal participation is encouraged, so through teamwork and cooperation, each age group does its part to bring the show together, such as creating sets, and simple costumes and props. New elements of the final performance are created throughout the week. Finally, the final performance arrives with much anticipation, including skits and at least one musical number, with simple choreography and group vocals.
Weekly Fee: $395.00 per week
