Are your kids interested in learning and developing their volleyball game through a fun and educational experience? Vaughan Volleyball League hosts exciting recreational volleyball leagues that teaches youth athletes all about this fast-paced sport and helps them find their competitive edge!
Located at the state-of-the-art Woodbridge Sports Dome in the Vaughan-Woodbridge community, this eight-week program is designed for both boys and girls aged 8-18. For just $350, they can participate in 90-minute sessions every Sunday, taught by expert coaches focussing on fun and skill development. In addition, the program is suitable for athletes of all skill levels – from those just starting out to those that may have participated in league programs and/or school volleyball teams over the years. Want to be on a team with your friends? No problem at all! Friend requests are welcome on your registration! At every session, athletes will work on individual skill development for the first half of the session. Then, in the second half of the sessions, teams compete in friendly competition while learning game strategies and court positioning.
Founded by John Child, who earned Canada’s first-ever Olympic medal for volleyball (along with his beach volleyball partner Mark Heese), John continues to share his love of the sport with the next generation of athletes in the GTA through Vaughan-Woodbridge’s newest volleyball league.
Vaughan Volleyball League — Fall Session
Within the program structure of skill development, gameplay and a championship tournament at the end of the Fall Session, this program teaches athletes the fundamentals of volleyball to expand their skills and provide them with the opportunity to play friendly games with their peers.
Before the start of the league session, the athletes are assigned to teams. To promote teamwork, they train and play with this same team for the entire program. Each week, during the first half of the session, athletes work on their individual skill development. Then, for the second half of the session, the teams play friendly yet competitive matches against other teams in their division. All the while, the coaches continue to work with the athletes during this time on their positional training and individual skills.
Finally, on the final Sunday of the program, all of the teams participate in a League Championship Tournament, which is the athletes’ all-time favourite activity and a great send-off to the session!
