Winged Canvas proudly began as a brick-and-mortar art school in Markham, Ontario that transitioned into a fully online learning model, serving thousands of students each year. Each 1-2 hour class is led virtually by lively and engaging professional art instructors, with step-by-step demonstrations and personalized attention while students work. Class sizes are restricted to small groups (6-12 students) to allow for ongoing individual feedback, both during class or available privately for those who feel less comfortable openly sharing their work. Thanks to the shift to an all-virtual class format, students are able to join a class in seconds, from anywhere, and can easily make up missed classes by viewing class recordings.
Winged Canvas believes that Art is Essential to Humanity and is dedicated to ensuring art education is easily accessible to EVERYONE. Classes are available to all levels of experience, with each proudly following the unique Art N.E.R.D. teaching method. Through the four pillars of learning, (Nurture, Explore, Recreate & Design) students are introduced to new artistic concepts, shown new creative techniques, and encouraged to challenge themselves artistically as they apply the methods to their own unique works of art.
All online weekly programs can be found by browsing the virtual art classes list. Discover everything from traditional drawing, figure drawing, and watercolour painting to the more modernized digital art, anime, cartooning, and animation. Test the waters and register for a 2 for 1 Trial Art Class (all new students are eligible) or commit to your artistic journey by registering for a full year of online art enrichment programs at a bulk rate. Classes are broken down by age group and skill level, beginning at the Foundations (levels 1,2 & 3) and working up to the Art Mentorship (level 4) for students wanting to build their portfolio or further pursue their artistic education.
