Abbotsford Tulip Festival:

After many years of delighting visitors with colourful fields, the Abbotsford Tulip Festival is hanging up their hat and moving to the Okanagan. The organizers of Bloom, The Abbotsford Tulip Festival, first hosted their event in 2016. The outdoor event attracted more than 100,000 visitors for the 6 week festival, every year. The Festival showcased more than 2.5 million rainbow coloured tulips in full bloom.

COVID combined with the sale of the festival land to new owners proved too much for the organizers of Bloom. The organizers have relocated to Armstrong and hope to open Bloom, North Okanagan once the pandemic will allow for such an event.

But, hopefully all is not lost for Metro Vancouver tulip-lovers. In previous years the Chilliwack Tulip Festival (aka Tulips of the Valley) has been just as popular as the Abbotsford event. While you may need to drive a bit further, there might still be tulips in our future. We don’t yet know whether the Chilliwack Tulip Festival will run in 2021 (it was cancelled due to COVID in 2020). Fingers crossed we still get to enjoy the stunning, colourful blooms this Spring.
