Don your green and gold and get ready for Western Canada’s largest annual Celtic culture festival at CelticFest Vancouver! Whether you’re Irish by blood or just Irish for the day, CelticFest is a FREE festival that is fun for the whole family.
For 21 years, CelticFest has been bringing the community together in a week-long festival filled with music, dancing, and cultural activities in the heart of Vancouver to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and this year is no different. CelticFest offers an exciting line-up of family-friendly events, live entertainment, and activities for kids and adults alike. While CelticFest runs from March 7-17 with exciting events, the highlight for families this year will be the Family Day taking place on March 15th from 10am-6pm.
CelticFest Vancouver Family Day will highlight the vibrant Irish culture with art, music, dance, live performances, and activities for the whole family. Start the day by getting your face painted with a lucky shamrock, then snap a family picture in the themed photo booths. There will be plenty of games for kids to try, an Irish Families play corner, and a fun bouncy castle to burn off some energy. A highlight of the event is the interactive storytelling sessions, and the special Secret Society of Books truck (aka, a traveling book shop!) filled to the brim with stories to inspire young imaginations. There are also educational and fun workshops available, such as the tin whistle workshop, followed by a performance from the tin whistle players at the Vancouver School of Irish Music.
A highlight of any celebration is the food and the music, both of which will be in large supply at CelticFest Vancouver Family Day! Kick up your heels to some Celtic and traditional folk music from the O’Neills, a performance from the award-winning fiddle player, singer and dancer Jocelyn Pettit, and an acoustic blend of rock, country, and traditional Irish folk music from Éamonn McHale. There will be plenty of food trucks onsite for food, coffee, and even a bar for adults to enjoy during a full day of family fun and activities.
