Family Events in Vancouver Feb 19-21So no school for the kids on Friday? Do you have ideas to fill their day (and yours)? Have a gander at our “What’s Happening in February” article; there are lots of ongoing activities suggested there. For this extra-long weekend, check out the family-friendly events we think are worth your while…

Winterruption returns for the 11th year to Granville Island. A weekend full of music, art, food & more. There are TONS of FREE kids activities as well as entertainment for mom and dad.

In need of a bit of culture for your little one? Take them to the VSO Tiny Tots concert (Friday’s performance is in Vancouver; Saturday’s is in New Westminster). The 45 minute, interactive concert is perfect for the 4 & under crowd. Our boys thoroughly enjoyed the VSO Tiny Tots when they were little.

Feeling a bit of spring fever? Get into the gardening and home-improvement frame of mind at the BC Home & Garden Show. I love visiting the show and tucking away ideas for our home. Whether those ideas ever get implemented is a whole other conversation…but at least I have ideas! The show runs all weekend long at BC Place.

If you are a sports fan you don’t want to miss Roger’s Hometown Hockey in Abbotsford on Saturday & Sunday. On Sunday you can take in the game between the Calgary Flames and the Anaheim Ducks.

While you are out in Abbotsford, stop by the Tradex and check out the Early Bird RV show. While I don’t think an RV is in my future, it sure is fun to have a look at what is available. My kids never tire of exploring the RVS; they are utterly fascinated by the concept of a mini-house on wheels.

Need a FREE activity for the kids? Don’t miss out on Play Day at Toys R Us stores on Saturday. Starting at 11am kids can enjoy games, crafts & giveaways. The activities are planned for kids ages 2 & up.

Science World is hosting a rather fun activity: robot showdown. The kids who have been learning about VEX and LEGO Mindstorm robots are ready to put their robots to the test. On Saturday it is the VEX robots and on Sunday the LEGO Mindstorm guys give it a go.

Just in case you are in need of even more ideas for your weekend adventures, head on over to our calendar. It has oodles of ideas and we are always adding more events as we become aware of them. Have a great 3-day weekend (for those of you with school-aged kids).
