I don’t know where April went but somehow May has shown up on my calendar. With kids in school, the months between Spring Break and summer holidays seem to fly past. The family-fun activities ramp up during the warmer months. As always, be sure to keep a close eye on the Family Fun Vancouver calendar as we are constantly adding new events. Happy May!

Star Wars Day (May 4) – yes, it’s a thing. May the fourth = May the force (be with you). It’s an important day in this household (much to my utter confusion). I’m not really a Star Wars fan (shhh don’t tell my husband and kids) and yet somehow I drive a car nicknamed Yoda. Happy elder wand day, Trekkies.

Burnaby Village Museum (May 7) – the historical gem of Burnaby is back for the summer season! Open Tues – Sun until Sept 5, families will be able to grab a yummy ice cream, learn about Burnaby in the 1920s, and more. Admission is free, as always. The carousel ride is once again open and the cost is $2.65 per ride.

Farmers Markets in Metro Vancouver (May – October) – Does anyone else feel healthier just by shopping at a Farmer’s Market? I love bringing home fresh veggies and home-baked goodies each week. Farmers Markets across Metro Vancouver are opening in May and many run weekly until the end of October.

Food Truck Festival – Coquitlam (May 7 & 8) – come hungry to the Food Truck Festival in Coquitlam. There will be 20+ trucks to enjoy along with food and entertainment. Admission to this event is free.

Mother’s Day (May 8) – Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms, step-moms, grand-moms, moms-in-training, moms-flying-by-the-seat-of-their-pants, and everyone else who is helping nurture the next generation. Are you in need of a Mother’s Day activity?

Slurpee Bring Your Own Cup Day (May 13 & 14) – Look for the strangest or silliest container you can find then head to your nearest store and fill that bad boy up with your favourite flavour(s) of Slurpee for just $2.49!

Vancouver Children’s Festival (May 31 – June 12) – just squeaking in at the end of May, but we couldn’t leave this Vancouver staple off our May events list. For 2022, the Kids’ Fest is happening both in-person (May 31 – June 5) and online (May 31 – June 12).
