I don’t know where April went but somehow May has shown up on my calendar. With kids in school, the months between Spring Break and summer holidays seem to fly past. The family-fun activities ramp up during the warmer months. As COVID still looms over our heads the family event offerings aren’t nearly as robust as usual. That being said we keep adding events to our Family Fun Vancouver calendar. Here’s to May 2022 being packed with parades, and oodles of family-friendly activities.
Burnaby Village Museum (May 1) – the historical gem of Burnaby is back for 2021! Open Tues – Sun until Sept 6, families will be able to grab a yummy ice cream, learn about Burnaby in the 1920s, and more. Please be sure to book your tickets online, in advance of attending. Admission is free as always.
Farmers Markets in Metro Vancouver (May – October) – anyone else feel healthier just by shopping at a Farmer’s Market? I love bringing home the fresh veggies and home baked goodies each week. Farmers Markets across Metro Vancouver are opening in May and many run weekly until the end of October.
Food Truck Festival – Chilliwack (May 8 & 9) – come hungry to the Food Truck Festival in Chilliwack. 9 trucks will be present each day. Admission to this event is free.
Mother’s Day (May 9) – Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms, step-moms, grand-moms, moms-in-training, moms-flying-by-the-seat-of-their-pants, and everyone else who is helping nurture the next generation. Are you in need of a Mother’s Day activity? Check out our list here.
Playland opening (May 28) – nothing says summer is right around the corner quite like the opening of Playland. For 2021, visitors will need to pre-purchase their ticketed time slot visit. And Playland is offering 2 passes: Fun Pass (aimed at kids and families) and Thrill Seeker Pass (riders must be at least 48″ tall).
Vancouver Children’s Festival (May 31 – June 13) – just squeaking in at the end of May, but we couldn’t leave this Vancouver-staple off our May events list. For 2021, the Kids’ Fest is going virtual. Watch a show online from the comfort of home from May 31 to June 13 with Pay-What-You-Can pricing.
