The Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival celebrates the full moon, harvest abundance, and diverse cultural traditions. The festival highlights the arts, community, and environment and is held on the Saturday closest to the 8th full moon of the year: the harvest moon, which recognizes the coming of the harvest season.
This family-friendly fair kicks off the Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival. Attendees choose to partake in playing games, making crafts, enjoying local musicians, eating delicious food, purchasing last-minute lanterns, and engaging with community organizations. The popular Harvest Fair competition allows neighbours to enter their best produce for community prizes.
As the moon rises (around 7pm) and the sun sets, musicians, dancers and the giant moon lantern prepare the way for the twilight lantern parade along Renfrew Ravine. The parade follows the trails along the ravine, accompanied by live music as darkness falls. Passing by the river-stone labyrinth, the procession is invited to a walking meditation surrounded by music and light.
The evening ends with a dazzling fireworks display.
