No one is born knowing how to sew. For generations the skill was passed from parent to child. Sadly, a few generations seemed to have missed out on passing along these skills. Thank goodness for places like SewGood! Owner Carley Struve established SewGood to share her love of sewing with others eager to acquire a similar skill. Not only does Carley offer classes for adults, she runs special classes (both during the school year & in the summer) for boys and girls aged 8 – 16 years of age. Carley is beloved by her students…her teaching methods are top notch and her pupils leave their classes feeling encouraged and successful.
The SewGood Summer Camps are each a week long with only 5 kids in each class. Talk about the ideal teacher-to-student ratio. Over the course of the week-long camp, students become comfortable on a Brother sewing machine and create a garment from start to finish. Prior to the class starting, the registrant will receive an email with details as to the pattern and fabric needed for the class. Just think, in 5 short days your child will be able to wear – with pride – a unique garment they created entirely on their own. Now that is an accomplishment!
My boys are still too young but in a couple of years I will be signing them up for one of Carley’s classes. Someone in this house should be able to sew!
