Think back to your childhood. We all have those special summertime memories that stand out and stick with us. Riding bikes, drinking ice cold water from hoses (hands up kids of the 80s), making new friends, and late bedtimes. That’s what being a kid was all about, and the YMCA celebrates adventure, exploration, and friendship through their outstanding summer camp programs. At a YMCA camp, there are no classrooms or cliques, no homework or tests, and no screens! Instead, there are opportunities for self-discovery, growth, skill building, and connecting with peers.
YMCA Over Night Camps:
All of the overnight camps run at YMCA Camp Elphinstone, located in Gibsons on B.C.’s beautiful Sunshine Coast. With 144 acres of oceanfront property, lush forest, and quiet creeks, YMCA Camp Elphinstone is the ideal place for those looking for a one-of-a-kind summer camp experience. Kids at Camp Elphinstone have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of land and water-based activities including archery, rock wall climbing, high and low ropes courses, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, and paddle boarding. The cozy lodges and rustic cabins can accommodate up to 450 people! All YMCA camps are run by dedicated and experienced staff members.
YMCA Day Camps:
The YMCA of Greater Vancouver operates action-packed day camps at 15 locations throughout the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and Sunshine Coast. With so many day camps to choose from there’s bound to be one practically in your backyard. Day campers (aged 5 to 12 years) enjoy a ton of great activities such as out trips, sports, games, and arts and crafts, and spend lots of valuable time outdoors. The camps build confidence, leadership, and environmental awareness. YMCA prides themselves on designing programs to challenge the campers, help them uncover their leadership abilities, and put them on the path to reaching their potential.
The YMCA’s day camp program also offers The First Tee Golf Day Camp:
The First Tee Golf Camp (ages 6 to 12): Youth learn the fundamental skills of the game as well as nine important core values: courtesy, judgement, honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, and perseverance.

Financial Assistant: We all know that raising kids isn’t exactly easy on the bank account. As a charity, the YMCA is committed to fostering a sense of belonging and connection and want to ensure that financial constraints don’t limit a child’s ability to participate in camp. That’s why the YMCA Financial Assistance (YFA) program is available to those who are interested in sending their child to camp but can’t afford to do so.
Bring a Friend Promotion: Register with a friend who didn’t attend a YMCA camp last year and both families will save 10% off the summer camp fee.
If you are hesitating to register your child because you work crazy hours, don’t worry! The YMCA’s camp hours take that into consideration and there is even some transportation assistance for some of the locations—they really have thought of everything.
