The cars were plentiful and beyond impressive at the Langley Cruise In<\/a>. \u00a0While the sun blazed down, thousands of people descended on downtown Langley. \u00a0By 10am huge crowds were gawking at cars from every possible era. \u00a0My favourite was the antique stock car section. \u00a0I’m sure my preference is due, in large part, to the fact\u00a0my dad owns this\u00a0beautiful 1930 Model A that he lovingly restored over many years. \u00a0I understand the hours that go into keeping these automotive-pieces-of-history functioning.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_6141\"<\/a>Our youngest was in awe of every car. \u00a0He just kept saying “Awww….look at that one!” \u00a0Over and over and over again. \u00a0This 1915 creation, while not an original, was stunning. \u00a0The windshield alone drew crowds over.<\/p>\n

Antique fire trucks and ambulances were also part of the display. \u00a0Big shout out to the folks with the ambulances. \u00a0They were super informative, fantastic at engaging the kids, and sent the boys home with flashing lights, ambulance magnets, and 3-D paper ambulance models. \u00a0Super fun!<\/p>\n

While the antique fire truck wasn’t open for kid exploration, the City of Langley had a fire truck and crew on site. \u00a0They happily opened the doors and let the kids clamber inside. \u00a0I also got to hop in…such fun!<\/p>\n

\"IMG_6142\"<\/a>One car we all found fascinating was the one made out of wood. \u00a0A 1915 wooden truck! \u00a0Quite the sight to see. \u00a0It is this type of vehicle that makes the Langley Cruise In<\/a> so special. \u00a0Yes there are a multitude of hot rods but I like the unique, one-of-a-kind, ultra-rare vehicles.<\/p>\n

The crowds and heat were a bit overwhelming for our little ones. \u00a0Fortunately the Douglas Park Community Centre is immediately adjacent to the main car display. \u00a0Both the playground and water park provided a great reprieve for everyone.<\/p>\n

There are plenty of spaces for picnics but there are also many vendors on site providing food. \u00a0Don’t forget to bring water; the asphalt made the day’s heat almost unbearable. \u00a0However, better sun than rain as the owners don’t bring out their gorgeous cars in drizzle.<\/p>\n

The car show runs on Sunday as well. \u00a0If you miss it this year, mark your calendars for next year. \u00a0The Langley Cruise In<\/a> is ALWAYS the weekend after Labour Day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
