Are you looking for a fun, family-friendly afternoon outing? Look no further than one of the amazing places to have High Tea in Metro Vancouver!<\/p>\n

When I was little, my favourite thing in the world was to pull out my tiny plastic tea set and have a tea party with my friends or family. My own kids recently received a tea set for Christmas and, despite never having tea before in their lives, immediately took to pouring cups of ‘tea’ to serve with pretend sandwiches and cookies.<\/p>\n

Pausing for a cup of tea and a pastry is a luxury – a moment of peace amidst a busy day. It can be a cozy comfort in your own home or an elegant affair if you venture out to a tea house. Metro Vancouver is fortunate to have plenty of offerings for High Tea in Vancouver, and many of them are perfect for a family-friendly day out. High Tea is filling and usually comes with your own personal tower of sandwiches, sweets, and a full pot of tea, whereas Afternoon Tea is a smaller selection of food and is perfect for an outing where you are not looking for a full meal. Fortunately, many of these amazing places offer a smaller kid’s menu that is more than enough for the youngest members of your tea party crew. Whether you get dressed up for a fancy afternoon or make it a casual outing, each of the places on the list below guarantees delicious food and impeccable tea service!<\/p>\n

Coquitlam<\/h2>\n

Cakes and Sweets: <\/a><\/strong>It’s easy to walk right past this small shop tucked into the corner of a strip mall, but once you have tasted their delicious treats, they are hard to forget. Cakes and Sweets offer High Tea To Go boxes, which are a great option if you want to set up a tea party at home or take your tea party to the park for a picnic. During the pandemic, my family picked up these delightful boxes to enjoy in the yard or over Zoom with close friends.<\/p>\n

A dream for photographs, the Little White Tea House is quaint and cozy– the perfect combination for afternoon tea. Their food is divine and they have a vast selection of tea to choose from.<\/p>\n

Cassandra Cake Co: <\/strong><\/a>Locals know how fortunate they are to have this exceptional bakery nearby. After winning The Big Bake on the Food Network, owner Cassandra Curtis opened the storefront to bring her delicacies to the masses. In addition to a large selection of incredible baked goods, High Tea is also available. Each High Tea includes a selection of sweets, savoury items, scones, and your choice of drink (tea, hot chocolate, coffee or lemonade)<\/p>\n

Butter Baked Goods:<\/a> <\/strong>Best known for its incredible baked offerings, Butter Baked Goods has been a Vancouver staple since it opened in 2007. Throughout their tenure, they have moved locations and published a cookbook that became an immediate best-seller nationally. Locals know the true best-kept secret though- Butter Baked Goods offers Afternoon Tea on select dates each month! If you want to secure your spot, head to the website to see the next available date and make your reservation.<\/p>\n

Neverland Tea Salon:<\/strong><\/a> Whimsy and wonder collide with delicious treats and a vast selection of tea to make for an incredible afternoon. This tea shop is one of my favourites in Vancouver because of the casual yet elegant vibe. The decor is delightful and the food is exceptional. Neverland rotates its High Tea offerings based on the season and upcoming holidays or events. It is a popular spot on weekends and special events, so reservations are required.<\/p>\n

Notch8: <\/strong><\/a>Located in the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel, Notch8 is the ultimate destination for a special occasion High Tea. What makes Notch8 special is the ever-changing themed teas they offer, which are accompanied by changing decor that matches the theme. Many special theme teas sell out, so if there is one you have your eye on, it’s best to book as soon as reservations open. On a personal note, I’ve been to Notch8 several times for special Afternoon Tea events and I’ve always been thoroughly impressed by the ambiance, tea selection, and feature food.\u00a0 They also have Afternoon Tea To Go, so you can get it as a takeaway if you want to create a cozy experience at home or outdoors.<\/p>\n

Parisian Afternoon Tea includes 2 macarons, a delicacy that Ladur\u00e9e is known for, a slice of cake, a Madeleine and Financier, seasonal fruit, and a selection of savoury croissants. Coffee, hot chocolate, and of course, tea, are all beverage options for your Afternoon Tea experience!<\/p>\n

As one of Vancouver’s oldest tea houses, they have been voted one of Vancouver’s Best Tea Houses many times, and with good reason! Stepping into The Secret Garden, time seems to slow down as people relax in the cozy surroundings and enjoy a cup of tea and good conversation.
