A summer spent on the water? What could be better? The Fort Canoe Kayak Club, based in stunning Fort Langley, offers exceptional summer camp programs for kids aged 8-14 years. The best part? The camp is incredibly inexpensive. The week-long, full day camp is only $295!</del>

From day one the kids are on the water. They start by learning about water safety and self-rescue. Over the course of the week campers will experience a wide variety of paddling experiences which may include: kayak, canoe, war canoe, voyageur canoe and more. The kids will try paddling by themselves as well as in crew (aka group) boats.</del>

In addition to a large portion of the day spent on the water, the campers will also enjoy dry-land activities that increase their stamina and mobility. Running, soccer, football, and erging (stationary paddling machines, think treadmill for kayak) help increase the campers’ coordination, balance and body awareness which are essential skills on the water. Every week of camp ends with a fun race day featuring a mini competitive regatta.</del>

The Fort Canoe Kayak Club programs are designed around the Canadian Sport for Life Long-Term Athlete Development Model and support participants in acquiring a foundation to be active for life all while learning fundamental paddling skills. Many of the campers who participate in the summer camps fall in love with the sport and end up joining the club as part of the year-round sprint training program.</del>

Wondering what you need to supply for a paddling camp? You don’t have to worry about sport-specific gear. The Fort Canoe Kayak Club provides the boats, the paddles and even the life jackets, you just need to send your child with supplies they’d need for any outdoor camp: hat, sunscreen, change of clothes, water, snacks, lunch (if they are taking part in the all day camp), bug spray, sunglasses, and a towel. Also, please ensure your child is wearing weather-appropriate clothing that allows them to move. Paddling is a full-body sport so active wear such as shorts or joggers is the way to go.</del>
